Julia Smith + Carl Fox | May 5, 2017
Julia and Carl got engaged in July of 2016 after dating for three years. Unbeknownst to Julia, Carl bought a ring right under her nose and ended up holding on to the ring for over two months before proposing! He asked Julia’s dad for his blessing and he planned to ask her at the restaurant where they went on their first date but as luck would have it, the restaurant was super crowded and the tables were too close for Carl to get down on one knee. He waited until the next night and during the Democratic National Convention speeches, Carl surprised Julia by getting down on one knee and proposed!
For their wedding, Julia and Carl visualized one that was elegant, fun, and memorable. They chose The Fearrington as their venue because of the special memories that Julia and her mother shared there before her mother passed away. Julia’s vision was to transform the Fearrington Barn into a garden at night with white lights, lots of greenery, and lots of peonies and hydrangea. The day went off without a hitch and the barn was transformed into the garden oasis that meant so much to Julia and reminded her of memories of her mother. To top it all off, 18 months prior to their wedding, Carl was diagnosed with blood cancer and received a bone marrow transplant, so the two felt so incredibly grateful, fortunate, and blessed to celebrate their love with their closest friends and family. It was a magical day so full of love and life and one that Julia and Carl will cherish forever!
Congratulations, Julia and Carl!
