The big moment has come and past and you are finally getting used to that big rock on your finger. Now, it’s time to share the exciting news!
You already know who you want to share the news with first and those are the kind of people you are going to want to tell in person, if at all possible. Schedule a visit home or a dinner out to tell the ones you love the most in person, or if that’s not possible that’s what FaceTime and video chatis for!
After that, it’s time to go public – if you want.
First things first, let’s set the record straight. With all the pressures of social media these days it can almost feel like it’s expected to post something about your engagement but remember you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to! And to that point, social media isn’t the only way to announce your engagement.
If you decide to post something on social media, the best way to do it is to keep it short –shout out your future hubby or wifey, thank your loved ones for all the well wishes so far and, of course, show off that sparkler!
Looking for a fun way to announce your engagement? Surprise your friends and family with a toast at brunch or dinner and spill the news. Share a video of your engagement, if you were lucky enough to get one. Use a creative hashtag and start your following early. Or even go old school with regular snail mail and send out a mail announcement. If it’s near the holidays, take advantage of the time of year and make your engagement announcement into a holiday card!
