Flowers are a big part of your wedding décor and style so it’s important to find a florist whose work you love. When you first reach out to a florist, there's a couple of things you'll want to know.

  1. Make sure that you have some kind of Pinterest board or images saved on your phone so that you can show them some inspiration.
  2. You want to make sure that you have a good idea of your colors because that will help to guide with what flowers you pick.
  3. Have an idea of your budget, so you can be upfront with that (some florists have minimums, so you want to make sure if they do have a minimum that you feel comfortable meeting it).
  4. The obvious – your wedding date so that you only meet with potential florists who are actually available on your date and so during that meeting they can help you determine what flowers are in season.

Once you know these things you’ll want to start actually looking for potential florists to meet with. When looking for a florist, go to Bustld, look at Instagram, go to their website and get an idea of what kind of style they have. Does it look like the floral style you are drawn to? Not to say that florists can't do multiple styles but if you look across a lot of their work, you will start to seea similar style.

Narrow your search down to one or two strong contenders to reach out to and set a consultation up with. It's always a great idea to go in and meet with a florist and see their shop. This way they can show you pictures and you might even be able to see some of their vase and tabletop décor inventory. During that consultation, get an idea of what all they will provide, what kind of setup and breakdown they'll do for you and then get an initial proposal from them. Getting proposals from two different florists will give you a comparison.

From there, follow your heart! Did you feel more comfortable with one florist over the other? Did you like the vases one had better? Sure, consider the price, but also consider the other outside factors like these.
