Bustld: What do you think makes you different as a planner?
Autumn: Honestly, from day one when I decided to get into weddings, I had already made my foundation about being a boutique company. Something I found in my personal life that I care about most is customer service. Whoever I am using for whatever service personally, I love when I feel that I am important to that company. That means quick responses and them taking care of me. Those things mean a lot to me. Being a boutique wedding company, I can be different in this field. As the owner, whether I am the lead for coordinating or designing, I have my hand in the planning process of every single client. My couples never have to wonder who they are going to be talking to. I am always a phone call away and that’s what’s very different about us.
Bustld: How would you describe your style and ideal couple?
Autumn: Style and design change with the times but when it comes to it, I really just want my clients to have fun. I was a bride not too many years ago, so I understand being in that process. I got stressed out, but I had fun and enjoyed it. That’s what I want for my clients. I love working with couples that are high energy. I’m high energy and I feed off of that. I get to have fun with those couples and things stay lighthearted. My couples want a beautiful, happy celebration and party, and they want to have fun with the whole process.
Bustld: Why do your clients hire you?
Autumn: Couples hire me because they see this is my passion. This is what I love to do. I am also really client driven. I want their happiness. At the end of the day, if they aren’t happy, I’m not happy and I think that my clients can see that. They appreciate my transparency. I try to be an open book with them. I’m there for them.
Bustld: What is the best part of being a planner?
Autumn: Dreaming up what clients are telling me. After speaking to couples for 30 to 40 minutes, I know exactly how their wedding day is going to work, how it’s going to look and how it’s going feel. I’m confident in that. I love the dreaming in the beginning stages. Up there with that is also seeing how fun it is to work with all of my vendors. We are all friends. I really enjoy that about being a wedding planner. At most weddings I feel like I’m really just hanging out with friends, which is nice.
Bustld: What's your favorite moment on wedding day?
Autumn: I think my favorite moment is watching my couple walk back up the aisle after they were just announced as a married couple. I think that and also the toasts. It’s something super touching. It feels so special that my clients have allowed me to be a part of that.
Bustld: How long have you been in business? What is your business back story? Why weddings?
Autumn: I’ve been in business about seven years. I was always in some form a customer service or client relations role. I felt kind of bored doing what I was doing. One day I thought, what if I got into some kind of design field, so I started researching floral designers. I played around a little bit with that.
A good friend of mine was getting married and I had planned my own wedding about two years before hers. I was coaching her on what to look for in a day of coordinator, questions to ask, etc. After talking to her, I was like I can do this so I told her I would really like to coordinate for her as her wedding gift. I ended up loving the day of coordination and the planning just as much as the floral design.
From there it was a domino effect. It just fell in my lap and was very organic how it all happened. I was also planning some corporate events, but I loved weddings more. You get a sense of satisfaction, pride and confidence at the end of it all. Once couples see they don’t have to stress because my team and I have it. It’s something to feel good about. That’s why I gravitate more towards weddings than corporate events.
