Bustld: What do you think makes you different in your field?
Cheryl: The biggest thing is my experience. A lot of videographers are just starting out or cap out at five or six years. The videography industry has been through so many changes and trends, so I know what is timeless. I balance trends with timelessness and have stay power for over the years.
Bustld: How would you describe your style and ideal couple?
Cheryl: My style is a blend of traditional, leaning toward rustic. My favorite weddings are farm weddings. It’s somewhere between a venue and the environment. I do shoot a lot of traditional weddings, too. I love traditional weddings with rustic elements included.
Bustld: Why do your clients hire you?
Cheryl: It’s the quick turnaround time I have. Everything is done in three to four weeks from wedding day.
Bustld: What is the best part of being a videographer?
Cheryl: I’m filming happiness. Wedding day is such a joyous occasion and I love being able to be a part of a happy occasion.
Bustld: What's your favorite moment on wedding day?
Cheryl: The vows, especially when they are handwritten ones. I catch myself smiling without realizing it.
Bustld: How long have you been in business? What is your business back story? Why weddings?
Cheryl: I was going to college to be a computer animator. I wanted to work for Pixar. As a part of the curriculum I had to take a video production course and I fell in love. I was always found in the video lab. I was also planning my wedding at the same time, so I was getting a taste of the wedding world. I had friends who filmed my wedding and I edited it myself. After that, I started filming for friends and built the rest from there.
