It’s not often you walk into a space with 360-degree views. But that’s exactly what you get when you step inside the beautiful Commerce Club Greenville.

“Our views are like no other. You get views of downtown Greenville and the Blue Ridge Mountains. With a backdrop like that, you can keep things simple and still make a statement,” said Shannon Hutchings, the club’s Private Events Director.

Those views paired with impeccable service truly help to set the venue apart.

“We can be a one stop shop for couples. We offer food, beverage, linens, set up and breakdown all in-house,” she said. “We also have links to select vendors so you can make one payment to us and we pay your vendors. It makes it really simple and easy.”

The chef is dedicated to helping design a dream menu for each couple at the member-only club (although you can be a nonmember and still choose this venue for your wedding!).

“Our chef wants every couple to have the food they want. It’s not just another banquet menu to choose from. If you want us to make your grandmother’s recipe, he can do it,” she said.

Personalizing everything from the menu to the look makes this blank canvas a natural choice for couples seeking a modern, sleek or traditional venue they can make uniquely theirs.

While she loves the stunning space itself, it’s the people who set the company apart.

“Everyone on the team has a hand in making each event a success. It’s never ‘this is my job’ or ‘I only do this’,” she explained. “Instead we work together to make sure we are successful in making each client happy.”

Which is why when Shannon joined the company 16 years ago, she never looked back.

“I moved to Charleston in 1999 for college. I didn’t know what I wanted to do but was on a medical path. I quickly realized that wasn’t my cup of tea,” she said.

While in school, she got a job as a server at the club’s sister property and fell in love with the hospitality industry.

“I’ve done everything from server to catering director. That groomed me for this position,” she said.

After 14 years in Charleston, Shannon decided to take a position in Greenville to be closer to family.

“I love that hospitality changes every day. I’m a very face-to-face person. The opportunity to help guide people to what they want is a passion of mine. I love being able to relieve stress for people,” said Shannon.

She considers it an honor to be a part of someone’s biggest day, and loves being able to help a couple design an event that represents them as a couple and family. Which is why her favorite moment on wedding day is right after the ceremony.

“I love moving the bride and groom into a little spot to catch their breath after the ceremony. I get to see one of the softest, most tender moments of the day as all the stress melts away and they soak in the pure joy of being married to their best friend,” said Shannon.

Being by your side for these moments to make them as beautiful as possible is exactly what Shannon and the Commerce Club Greenville team specialize in.
