The Ballantyne Hotel and Lodge is a unique wedding venue in South Charlotte that offers an 18-hole golf course, outdoor event space and a full-service spa, all in one location. It’s no surprise then that couples come to the hotel when they want to create a truly personal and custom experience for their wedding.

“A wedding ceremony and reception should be a reflection of the couple—of their story, their love, their shared experiences and their future,” says Dee Wood, senior catering manager of The Ballantyne. “We love incorporating those things into their menu and décor. While we love a four-course seated dinner and champagne fountain, we also welcome a backyard barbeque complete with corn hole and giant Jenga. We love clients who share ideas and a willingness to try something different.”

Dee, who has been with the hotel for five years, says that couples can expect to meet incredible people behind the brand when they step on-site to chat about their wedding. “We will ask a lot of questions and listen closely. Our ultimate goal is to match the experience you are looking for to the right venue and space.”

The gorgeous hotel has of options to offer: two ballrooms, several smaller spaces and The Lodge, an exclusive wedding venue that gives the wedding group a private hotel for the weekend including 35 overnight rooms, indoor and outdoor event space, two pool tables and a ping pong table.

No matter which space you choose, the culture of Southern hospitality runs deep. “We are a venue with the reputation and experience to deliver what we promise,” says Dee. “I’m proud to be surrounded by a highly-trained team that can execute even the finest details, who can bring our clients’ visions to life and who do it all with smiles on their faces.”

For Dee, there is nothing better than when a couple finds their perfect venue:

“I love seeing the look of relief and excitement when the bride has solidified her choice of venue and date. Whew! The fun of planning details can then begin!”

And when they choose the Ballantyne they can expect a relaxing, luxurious weekend wedding that’s all about delivering top-notch service.

As for Dee? Once the heels come off, you will find her in old jeans and flannel with a paint brush and sanding block in her hands. “I love to paint and repurpose old furniture. My favorite piece is a 1970s dresser that I refinished in high gloss white with brass hardware and am currently using in our living room. I find joy in making old things new.” She is happily married to Jesse and the produ mama of two delightful and very different girls – Kacy, a lizard-catching, nature-loving fourth grader, and Callie, a compassionate and crafty third grader.
