As a formally trained photographer, Isabelle Beyer of Belle Intrigue Photography sets herself apart from the competition by truly getting to know her couples, then delivering incredible photos. For her, it’s all about capturing the day’s emotions and telling the story as it unfolds. Read on to learn more…

Bustld: What do you think makes you different in your field?

Isabelle: I went to school for photography, which I think it’s popular to pick up and self-teach, which I think is cool, but there is something about knowing all the technicalities to photography. Besides that, I really love to get to know my clients. It’s a huge piece of it to me. I just actually started wedding planning for myself recently. In meeting with different vendors, part of that aspect was missing to me, personally, and that’s the most important part to me – to fully connect with my clients. To say that I will be there and mean it.

Bustld: How would you describe your style?

Isabelle: My style is definitely more photojournalistic. I focus the most on the candid moments, the important things that you really don’t want to miss. Much more about the emotion. I think posing is great, and of course I have to do that, but I really genuinely like to sit back, and watch things unfold. And capture those super special moments as they happen.

Bustld: How would you describe your ideal client?

Isabelle: My ideal client is typically someone who is a little more laid back; my personality is that way. I can definitely handle the more Type A personalities and I typically have a Type A personality, too. Having someone who is laid back, knows what they want, and will trust me to guide them so they can go with the flow of the day.

Bustld: Why do your clients hire you?

Isabelle: I would hope because they saw my work and really liked it. But I think, when I sit down with my clients, I do become somewhat of a friend. They end up hiring me because they feel comfortable and that we are friends.

Bustld: What is the best part of being a wedding photographer?

Isabelle: Same kind of thing. The relationships I build with my clients really mean so much to me. I have made some of my closest friends through weddings. They will become friends with me and have a lasting relationship. Getting to sit down and look at all the photos at the end of the day and see that progression of the entire day is really awesome. To be able to capture something and tell the story of such a special day for them.

Bustld: What's your favorite moment on wedding day?

Isabelle: My favorite moment is typically the first dances. I love seeing a couple dance for the first time. I think it says a lot about their relationship. I really like getting to know everyone’s story and how they work together. The dance in general really shows that. But, I especially like the father/daughter dance; it gets me every time. Pretty sure I cry at every single one. It’s such a sweet moment and I love it so much.

Bustld: Tell us your backstory. How did the business come to be?

Isabelle: I was at MTSU doing something completely different. I had changed my major a few times. It kind of hit me one day that I could actually make a living doing photography, which was super awesome. I started taking classes and interned. I finished my degree. It was hard to get started professionally because it’s such a competitive field. Eventually I got my start in real estate photography. Then one of the photographers I interned for did weddings, so I followed her on a few. Then, I moved to Charleston, South Carolina and randomly contacted a wedding company there and started working for them for about a year before moving back to Nashville to start my own business here.

I still travel for that company and my own to Charleston. It’s pretty much my second home. Any time I can travel back there I take the opportunity.
