Our team set down and chatted all things bridal gowns with Courtney Glenn, co-owner, and Rachel Crist, director of marketing, at J. Major’s Bridal Boutique…
Buying the wedding gown of your dreams is so much more than picking a dress off the rack. For J. Major’s brides, it means feeling comfortable, enjoying the experience and receiving the best customer service.
“At J. Major’s you can expect a no pressure environment,” said Courtney Glenn, the shop’s co-owner. “We truly value the relationship with our brides. The customer experience and relationships we build is what we pride ourselves on.”
The team selectively chooses what they carry from each designer based on what they believe their brides will fall in love with.
“All of our designers are timeless but each one has its own unique style,” said Courtney. “Our gown collection is a wide range of all different styles. A bride can pretty much find anything they are looking for.”
The boutique carries nine bridal designers that are exclusive to the Charlotte region.
“We have a wide range of different laces, classic ballgowns, boho gowns, modern styles, a little bit of everything,” said Courtney. “We even have a couple of designers that are really customizable so a bride can create her dream gown. That’s especially important for a bride who has a specific vision.”
A lot of brides travel from across the South to shop the unique collection at J. Major’s:
“Brides know they can find a dress like no other dress at our shop. They will find something that is unique to their personality but is still a forever piece that will never go out of style,” said Courtney.
But the impeccable customer service doesn’t stop the minute you buy a dress; instead you can expect the J. Major stylists to be by your side until wedding day.
“Our clients know they are in good hands throughout the whole wedding process,” said Rachel Crist, director of marketing at J. Major’s. “From helping you pick your gown, to walking you through the alterations process, to adding the finishing touches, our team never leaves your side.”
Courtney and her mom, Bridget, recently took over ownership of the established bridal boutique after Courtney got married.
“I was working as a teacher while planning my wedding and fell in love with the wedding planning process,” said Courtney. “I had the greatest experience buying my dress and had always wanted to own a boutique of my own. I realized then that bridal was where I wanted to be.”
For the new owner, she has tons of ideas of how to continue building the well-known Charlotte brand. The most exciting announcement? The shop has recently moved to a new location in the ever growing South End neighborhood.
“We are taking something that’s a Charlotte staple and growing upon that vision and passion, while having fun with it,” Courtney said.
The best part of the transition in to the wedding world for Courtney?
“I like how every day is different and I am constantly surrounded by beautiful things,” she said. “I love the relationships we build and the moments and emotions we get to witness. There is nothing better than getting to see someone through their happiest times. And it doesn’t hurt that I get to play and try on wedding dresses all day too!”
