Creating a tailored wine experience for every individual is Corkbuzz’s specialty. Julia Riddle, the company’s marketing manager, shares this passion whether she is helping with a wedding or bachelorette party.
Julia’s passion for the wine world started at Johnson and Wales. She studied baking and pastry but soon realized that the beverage world was calling to her. She had no idea what she was doing but she started to explore wines, including spending time traveling Europe and attending a German wine school to delve further in to her passion. She studied in Germany and France which makes those wines her specialty but she loves exploring new grape varietals and regions. When she returned from overseas, she started serving at Corkbuzz and grew in to her current role.
“I love that our company has so many females who are passionate about wine, education and their careers,” she said.
Corkbuzz is a unique concept that truly brings the world of food and wine to their clients in easy way. For events, they focus on tailoring the menu specifically to the client’s tastes and price point. The restaurant engages all your senses – the taste of the food, the sound of a celebration, the look of a chic space and the smell of wine and food. It’s the perfect venue for the adventure-seeking, food-loving couple who is looking for a non-traditional venue space. The space is upscale, warm and inviting, pulling inspiration from its New York flagship location. They offer four unique venues, including an outdoor space, that are perfect for wedding ceremonies, receptions, rehearsal dinners, bridal showers, bachelorette parties and other special events.
This modern, approachable concept is helmed by Laura Maniec, a master sommelier, who lives in New York but frequents the Charlotte location to help spread education about wine. A newlywed herself (and yes, she got married in Napa!), Laura created a wine guide for brides that helps guide them to the right selection of wine based on the tastes of both the couple and their guests.
“From the wine guide to our wine classes to our venue, we have something for every bride-to-be,” said Julia. “We can even help you personalize your wine selection from our retail collection for a wedding at another venue.”
For this mom to ten-month-old Nora, the best part of wedding day is working behind-the-scenes to make it extra special for everyone in attendance.
“It really does mean so much to be a small part of someone’s special day,” she said. “It’s a day they will remember forever so we want to make it extraordinary.”
