An open and honest relationship with each couple is most important to Tiffany McClure of Tiffany McClure Photography. It’s that relationship combined with her natural, bright clean and romantic style that draws couples in.

Bustld: What do you think makes you different in the field of wedding photography?

Tiffany: A couple things come to mind. Our wedding experience is very relationship-driven, the consultation is more like a date-night with couples. About 95 percent of couples book over the phone because we have little ones and it is hard to meet with every couple. We chat over the phone and once a couple books, they pick a place and we treat them to dinner. That’s when we ask them all the fun stuff, start making their day-of schedule and really just get to know them. We also include out little boys on engagement sessions sometimes. Our oldest has a little camera. One time, he took a couple’s photo during a session and gave it to the couple. That was the first thing the couple posted on social; it was so special. Our family is really involved in our business! We are very open and honest about that and everything with our couples.

Bustld: How would you describe your style and ideal couple?

Tiffany: I would say my style is natural light and bright, clean, timeless, romantic, joyful. My clients are very excitable so when taking pictures, everyone is super excited and energetic. Our clients have a great sense of humor, are very giggly and down to earth. I love weddings that are on the lighter side, like outdoor venues or venues that are white or clean spaces. Those really draw me in the most. I love lots of florals, very whimsical and classic.

Bustld: Why do your clients hire you?

Tiffany: Couples hire us because we are so open behind the scenes and we post so much of our real life on social media. Them getting to witness other couples having that experience makes them feel more comfortable. We mostly come as recommendations from friends. That is how our foundation and business was built. We explain everything over the phone, and I feel that we are completely honest with our couples. We are straightforward.

Bustld: What is the best part of being a photographer?

Tiffany: There are so many great parts. The best part is being able to witness the day couples will hold on to dearest for their entire life. They are going to remember this day forever. And of course, delivering their photos and knowing their photos will be impactful to their marriage forever. Giving that type of gift is huge, in my opinion.

Bustld: What's your favorite moment on wedding day?

Tiffany: I think whenever the couple is walking back down the aisle right after getting pronounced. To just see that joy, and especially see couples who have waited so long to get married, just seeing that relief. I also really love portrait time.

Bustld: How long have you been in business? What is your business back story? Why weddings?

Tiffany: I’m in year nine of shooting weddings. I started out with just a point and shoot camera. Growing up, I was always the one in the group taking friend photos. Back when we had MySpace, everyone would be like, “Oh, that would make such a great profile photo.” And I would think, I am doing something right because people are loving the photos I am taking of them.

Eventually friends and family just started asking me to take photos of their family. I remember I had just gotten a Cannon Rebel and I was doing a family shoot. A random woman walked up to me and said, “I don’t know what the photos will look like, but it looks like you know what you are doing.” She then asked if I would take her family photos and her son’s engagement photos while he was in town. I did the engagement session and then they booked me for their wedding. It was my first wedding.

After that, I started a Facebook page and then word of mouth spiraled out of control from there. I didn’t expect to be a wedding photographer. One thing I do know is that I wanted a job where I can also be a stay at home mom, so it solidified my role as a photographer. I love couples and feel so drawn to them, but weddings have my heart. I love the hustle of a wedding day, all the photography styles rolled into one. Portraits, landscape, bridal party, details, everything rolled into one day. Extra creative!
