Once you’ve found the perfect photographer, you’ll have to decide what you want to include in your package. Aside from wedding day coverage, you may want to consider some additional photo sessions. Not only do you get more photos to frame but any chance you have to get in front of the camera and work with your photographer will only make wedding day that much easier!

Proposal

This one is for you gentlemen! It’s every girl’s dream to get the perfect proposal picture so why not hire a professional for it? Photographers are notorious for finding the perfect hiding spot and capturing the sweetest pictures. Or better yet, plan a casual photo shoot with your significant other and get their input on the photographer you hire. Then hijack the session into your proposal! You can hire a photographer for a single session and then take it from there.

Engagement

This is the most common session couples add-on to their photography package. If possible, we highly recommend doing it. It will help you loosen up in front of the camera and get used to a lens being in your face all afternoon. It will also help you and your photographer bond and get to know each other. They will be there for some of your most intimate moments on wedding day and it’s nice when they don’t feel like a total stranger!

Engagement pictures are perfect for framing and displaying at your wedding and even using on your save the date or wedding website.

Bridal Portraits

A little more of a southern tradition, bridal portraits are when the bride does a “dry run” of her wedding day look to get some solo pictures. A picture from the session is then usually put on display during the wedding. Just like the engagement session, a bridal portrait is another great opportunity for you to get comfortable with your photographer and in front of the camera.

It is also a great way to test your look. Most brides will do their hair and makeup trial for the portrait, wear their altered wedding dress (of course!) and usually get a mock up done of their bouquet. You will be able to tell if you like the way everything looks together or what tweaks you might want to make.

Trash the Dress

When it is all said and done, one unique session to do is a trash the dress session. Not only can it be fun, but you get to wear your wedding dress for a second time, which is more than most people can say! Try an under the water shoot or a paint shoot for something fun.
