While your venue will have a lot of say on the caterer you choose – some have in-house caterers while others have exclusive partnerships – there is still so much you can do to personalize your menu. After all, what better way to show off your personality than through delicious food!

Show off where you came from (or where you’ve been)

Whether you are planning a wedding in your hometown or where you live now, there is no reason not to transport guests to another locale on wedding day.

Planning a wedding in the South for all your northern guests? A touch of BBQ or mac ‘n cheese might be in order. Got engaged in Paris? Perhaps coq au vin should be on the menu. Prefer to keep the dinner portion of the evening a little simpler? Add a touch of personality to the cocktail hour food which can be a great way to personalize for even your pickiest of eaters.

Let your personality (and interests) shine

This is a place where you can have a lot of fun and really make the day all about you! Maybe you have a cute pup that can’t be at the wedding but would be a great name for a signature cocktail. Or you are a huge Harry Potter fan and want to create a Hogwarts-inspired appetizer with your caterer. Big baseball fan? Work your favorite team in to the menu in a unique way that will have your guests talking for years to come.

Consider your favorites

When someone asks you what was the best meal you’ve ever had, do you have a clear answer? Who says you can’t recreate that for one of the best parties you will ever have! Or maybe your mom’s lasagna is the meal you still dream of and want to do a take on that for your guests. Think about your favorite meals and flavors, then incorporate those to really show off your personality.
