Now that you know the ins and outs of planning a rehearsal dinner, let’s get to the fun part – picking your style! We’ve already determined that your rehearsal dinner style can be totally different from your wedding style – if that’s what you want. So, we’ve rounded up four of our favorite rehearsal dinner styles to give you some inspiration.
For the more casual bride, plan a casual BBQ. Choose a venue with more of a rustic vibe to really play up the country BBQ theme. A barn or even a wooded backyard would be a great and easy venue choice for a BBQ. Accents like wooden signs and chalkboard signs are great rusticfeeling pieces. Add in some beer and something fun, like sangria or margaritas, a buffet full of yummy BBQ and you have the perfect rehearsal dinner!

If you are looking for something still casual but a little different, try finding a brewery. Breweries are especially popular right now with the craft beer scene blowing up. Maybe you are already an avid brewery goer, then this gives you the perfect opportunity to show off your favorite spot to your favorite people! Since a brewery is already a unique venue choice, choose some unique décor like macramé or wild flowers to decorate with and give it that boho flair. Craft beer is a must at a brewery rehearsal dinner, add in some wine for the non-beer drinkers and a more alternative choice for dinner, like a food truck, and you’ve got a rehearsal dinner as unique as you are!

Maybe a traditional and formal dinner is more your style. Find a restaurant or country club to host your rehearsal dinner and dress it up. Use candles, flower centerpieces and a full place setting to give it the elegant feel you want. Choose a two or three (or four or five!) course sit down meal and an open bar and it will be the perfect pre-wedding day celebration!

For the “somewhere in between casual and elegant” bride, a courtyard cocktail style rehearsal dinner is the perfect choice. Find a winery, mansion or even a botanical garden that has a beautiful courtyard and patio and transform it into a cocktail space for your rehearsal dinner. Accent with natural greenery or light florals to keep things feeling very natural. Forego assigned tables for cocktail tables and soft seating and let guests graze throughout the night at different stations serving small tastes of food. You can’t go wrong with that!
