Laina + Jeremy | Nov 11, 2017
Laina and Jeremy met in eighth grade on the school bus. They had a mutual friend on the bus that introduced them, and what started as middle school sweethearts, worked all the way into adulthood. The two maintained a long-distance relationship when Jeremy moved to Guam for two years, and in May 2012 they had an adorable daughter together. Their relationship continued to grow until it was time for a proposal! On Mother’s Day, Jeremy invited Laina’s family over for a “Mother’s Day Cookout.” After spending the day grilling and hanging out with family, it was time to open gifts. Jeremy gave Laina his last and she opened a bag to find a small jewelry box. When she opened the box, there wasn’t a ring but instead a piece of paper. She opened the paper and their daughter had written, “Mommy, will you marry my Daddy?” Laina then looked to her left and there was Jeremy down on one knee asking her to marry him!
Laina and Jeremy had a fabulous “Beauty and the Beast” inspired wedding on a perfect November day at Brakefield at Riverwalk, an enchanting venue outside of Charlotte, all captured by Carina Studios. Ever since Laina was a little girl, Beauty and the Beast has played a huge part in her life and she knew she wanted touches of the movie throughout their wedding. Their red and gold color scheme was inspired by the movie, red in honor of the red rose and gold in honor of Belle’s famous gold dress. They also incorporated Laina’s favorite number, 11, into their day by getting married on 11/11, with 11 bridesmaids and groomsmen, at 1111 Brakefield Drive.
They had a very traditional ceremony and the most special aspect of the day was that Laina’s 87-year-old grandfather officiated the ceremony. He married her parents back in 1976 and since they’re still together, Laina and Jeremy felt that it would be a good omen to carry on that moment. Their reception was filled with touches of the Disney classic: from gold tablecloths and décor to the red rose petals and red rose linens.
Their four-tier cake was amazing, with the top layer and second layer divided by a rose in a glass case (just like the movie!) and a cake topper that read “Tale as Old as Time.” Laina channeled Belle with her A-line cut dress, sparkle bodice and ruffled skirt. Caroline with Mint to Be Weddings helped bring Laina and Jeremy’s vision to life for a true fairytale wedding dream!
