Brittany Nifong + Kevin Dunham | Jan 27, 2018
Brittany and Kevin met at a casual pool get-to-together with friends. Kevin had moved to Charlotte a year prior and his brother was friends with Brittany’s roommate at the time. Kevin’s brother always thought that the two would hit it off and he was right! After their first date, Brittany and Kevin dated for two years before Brittany sold her condo and moved in with Kevin.
One night, the two went to dinner and afterward they got coffee and took a walk through Romare Bearden Park in uptown Charlotte. At some point during their walk, Brittany said to Kevin, “I need to go to the bathroom” and he stopped her and asked, “Would you like for me to propose before or after you go?” He then got down on one knee and asked her to marry him! The rest of the night was blur as they savored their engagement!
Brittany and Kevin’s Ritchie Hill wedding was a perfect example of the beauty of being true to yourself as a couple when planning your big day and it was perfectly captured by J.P. Lord Photography. Once the couple found and fell in love with the venue, Brittany’s idea of a romantic and intimate evening quickly came together. In true “1920’s Vogue-inspired” fashion, she loved how the architecture of the house was reminiscent of the era of dinner parties and social gatherings so she wanted a night that would be all about guests mixing and mingling.
The color palette was inspired by Brittany’s love of mixing various shades of pink and green and was evident in the bouquets and boutonnieres, the gorgeous gold terrarium centerpieces and fabulous floral décor. A dramatic greenery installation hung above the outdoor king’s table, making the table truly stand out. Beneath the twinkling market lights, the breezy dusty gray linens and blush florals created a truly intimate, romantic affair.
Subtle pops of magenta tied in perfectly with Brittany’s crystal embellished Badgley Mischka flats and gorgeous lace gown. In true vintage fashion, her bridal party sported matching fur stoles over their black gowns. Guests had the best time enjoying a barbeque buffet and old school cocktails from a vintage camper mobile bar. A black and white dance floor was full the whole night and guests had so much fun playing with glowsticks provided by the bride and groom.
Everything about Brittany and Kevin’s day was truly “them” and when asked her wedding advice, Brittany shared, “A friend of a friend said to stick with your partner throughout the evening, so you have similar experiences and memories of your wedding. As for planning... do it in spurts and have fun with it! At the end of the day, the more ‘you’ it is, the more you will appreciate it!”
Congratulations, Brittany & Kevin!
