High School Sweethearts Finally Wed in Fairytale Formal Affair

Averi + Ryan | Aug 12, 2018

Pops of pink and gold in classic and romantic black tie wedding at Trump National Golf Club near Charlotte, North Carolina

There’s nothing that warms our heart more than a high school sweetheart story, and Averi and Ryan’s story is no exception. The couple were inseparable as soon as they met, true soulmates.

They were together eight years before Ryan decided to pop the question while on a vacation in Turks and Caicos with Averi’s whole family. Averi’s family is very important to her, so it was so sweet to have them share in the moment. The family was on the beach taking family pictures and the photographer started with Ryan and Averi, they took a few normal pictures before Ryan decided to kneel for the next shot and the rest is history.

When planning their wedding, they knew they wanted something classic and formal. After landing on the venue, that vision was completely brought to life.

The ceremony was set outside on a lush green space backing up to Lake Norman. There was a rounded arch backdrop covered in greenery and lots of roses in all different shades of pink. The reserved rows had flower aisle markers in matching pink florals and greenery. A greenery runner was draped along the last row of chairs with a single pink rose on the end chair. A cluster of oversized lanterns was the cherry on top of the ceremony décor.

As guests filled the seats, Averi put the final touches on her bridal day look. She wore a fitted beaded Berta gown with a plunging neckline and sheer overlay. It was the dress she had always dreamed of, she even had the dress saved to her Pinterest board!

“I found my dress on my first day of dress shopping, at the first bridal boutique I went to,” said Averi. “The dress I chose was actually one Ihad saved from Pinterest!!”

One by one the groom and his groomsmen made their way down the aisle in matching black slim fit three-piece suits with black bow ties. Then came the bridesmaids wearing floor length hot pink dresses carrying bouquets spilling over with greenery and lush pink florals. And then the moment everyone was waiting for.

As the live string trio played, Averi made her way down the white aisle runner toward her future husband.

“We didn’t do a first look, so I would probably say me walking down the aisle and seeing my husband for the first time that day in my dress was pretty exciting and the most anticipated moment,” she recalled. “It was, obviously, super emotional.”

After the couple exchanged their I dos, guests enjoyed an outdoor cocktail hour while the finishing touches were put on the reception space. Once guests were invited to enter the ballroom, they were immediately wowed by the romantic ambiance in the room complete with crystal chandeliers, exposed arched beams and a floor-to-ceiling rock fireplace.

Guest tables were draped with white linens, set with gold chiavari chairs and finished with a full place setting that included a gold charger. Some of the tables had tall oversized arrangements of more greenery and pink florals while other tables had shorter arrangements of the same style. There were floating candles in hurricane jars on each table and, get this, the candles were pink! How amazing?!

The sweetheart table couldn’t have been a more romantic place to enjoy a first meal as Mr. and Mrs. The rectangular table was set like all the others in a white linen with gold chargers, but all the décor and flowers around were something spectacular. First, the table was set in front of the floor to ceiling fireplace with an oversized mantle. On the mantle sat two large bouquets, a gold framed mirror and lots of candlesticks. On the table itself was a similar set up with a tabletop greenery and floral cluster, lots of candlesticks, floating candles and votives (yes, including more pink candles!), and a gold framed mirror that sat flat and was topped with another bouquet and some more candles. The table was surrounded by more floral arrangements on the floor, lanterns and candles. Talk about dreamy.

Just when we thought things couldn’t get any better, we saw the cake. The four-tier wedding cake sat on a bed of more greenery and pink florals that hung – yes hung – from the ceiling. The bottom and top tiers were white with some icing details and the middle two tiers were a solid white and solid gold tier. There was a single pink bloom in the center gold tier. It. Was. Amazing.

As if the cake wasn’t enough, there was an entire dessert display and candy bar. There were a variety of different cupcakes, pink iced chocolate cake, vanilla iced white cake, pink iced white cake – you get the picture. And of course, all the candy on the candy bar was pink, from the Hershey kisses to the peppermint patties. Not to mention the candy bar table was topped with a gold sequin linen for that extra pop of glitz.

Averi and Ryan kicked off the night surrounded by all their family and friends as they shared their first dance together as a married couple. There was dancing, cake and even a dress change from the bride. Then, as they shared one final dance in private, their guests headed outside for the grand sparkler exit. They ended the night the same way they started, surrounded by all their family and friends.

Congratulation to the new Mr. and Mrs.!
