Kaci Janawsky + Erik Anderson | Feb 10, 2018
Kaci and Erik have such a sweet proposal story! Shortly after the two moved into an apartment together in uptown Charlotte, wedding talks started to become more and more frequent. They’d spend hours talking about their dream wedding and it wasn’t long before it was time to make their talks a reality! Erik had been planning the perfect proposal for a while and a week prior to the big day, he picked up the ring and braved the Friday afternoon traffic up to Lake Norman to ask Kaci’s parents for her hand in marriage. They were thrilled! Fast forward to a week later, Kaci and Erik had planned to go on a walking tour of uptown and they started the day off with brunch at Essex, one of their favorite restaurants in Charlotte. Kaci could tell that Erik was acting a little “off” during brunch and seemed nervous about something but Kaci didn’t think too much of it and just brushed it off. They then walked across the street to get a coffee and were strolling back towards their apartment when Erik abruptly threw his full coffee in the trash and insisted they make a stop at The Green, an adorable little park in Uptown. When they got there, they were looking at one of the many new buildings being put up and when Kaci turned around, Erik was down on one knew asking her to spend the rest of her life with him! As Kaci said “yes!” their entire family popped out from behind the bushes and they spent the day celebrating their new engagement with those closest to them!
So it’s not surprise that the couple wanted their wedding day to be all about celebrating with those closest to them. The planed a simple but beautiful wedding ceremony at the historic St. Peters Catholic Church. White hydrangeas and long white ribbons along the pews set the scene for their beautiful Catholic ceremony.
Their reception was held at the Foundation for the Carolinas, the spot they had been dreaming of getting married in since the talks began months ago in their apartment. The modern, art-filled space with its stunning city views created the perfect backdrop for their celebration. In addition to romantic candlelight, greenery mixed with soft white roses and hydrangeas created the ambiance in the room and set the space beautifully for the festivities. Soft ivory and dusty pink roses were also displayed on the gorgeous four-tiered cake and tied in beautifully with the wedding party’s florals and Kaci’s amazing bouquet (one of her favorite parts of the day!). Kaci and Erik knew they wanted a big cocktail hour full of food and Italian desserts. Kaci joked, “We are a bunch of Italians from Long Island so we LOVE our food.”
The entire dance floor was packed all night and there wasn’t a single person seated in the house! The entire day was truly perfect and all of the love was captured by the amazing Rob + Kristen Photography. When asked the most special moment of the day, Kaci and Erik shared, “Definitely walking down the aisle and seeing each other for the first time. You will never predict the emotions you will feel when you are walking down the aisle on your wedding day, the one day you wait your entire life for to see the love of your life and best friend standing there in absolute awe. It was really an incredible moment that we will cherish forever.”
Congratulations, Kaci & Erik!
