Emily Turgeon + Josh Cambra | Aug 29, 2015
Emily and Josh met on a blind date seven years ago set up by mutual friends when Josh was stationed at Ft. Bragg and Emily lived in Raleigh. Emily adored him from the start. Soon after, he deployed to Iraq and they lost touch. Years later, she was sitting in a cafe having coffee and staring out the window like Brigit Jones thinking of Josh and how she missed out on such a great guy. Although they hadn't talked or seen each other in six years, Emily sent him an email and he wrote back saying he never thought he would ever hear from her again. The friendship re kindled and they dated long-distance for a while and they both just knew that this was "it." It was like they had gotten a second chance! The two got engaged in Reno when Josh flew out for Emily's North American Strongman national competition where he totally surprised her at dinner and asked her to spend forever with him!
Emily and Josh envisioned their wedding having personal touches with a rustic theme. Their ceremony was held at Emily’s childhood church and after the ceremony, they paid tribute to Emily’s retired lieutenant colonel father with an army saber arch. He passed away when she was 18 and they honored him by having one of their friends use his saber in the arch. For their reception, both Emily and Josh have country roots at heart so a Southern barn was the perfect fit for their reception! Vibrant wildflowers with natural textures brought the rustic theme to life while wooden décor and vintage doors were the perfect match to the barn setting. Emily and Josh’s love of basset hounds also played a huge role in their wedding. They created a tribute to their pups by displaying their photos on an old door and they also created a sitting area out of hay bales and quilts that was decorated with a memorial of photos of all the family and friends who couldn’t be there to celebrate with them. Emily looked amazing in her satin ballgown and her girls looked fabulous in their dark blue dresses. They were perfectly complemented by Josh and his groomsmen who all looked so handsome, some in their dress blues and others in matching suits. It was a beautiful day, full of love and sentiment and perfectly captured by Kate Pope Photography, and is one that Emily and Josh will cherish forever!
Congratulations, Emily and Josh!
