A Colorful, Cultural Wedding Celebration

Sangeeta Vijayagopalan + Daniel Tebbe | Nov 3, 2017

Sangeeta and Daniel met in graduate school in Arizona and started dating 6 months after they met. The two dated long-distance for 6 years and their love grew fonder and stronger through the distance as they overcame long-distance struggles and family complications. Sangeeta is Hindu and her parents expected her to get an arranged marriage to an Indian man; however, Sangeeta loved Daniel and her parents (thankfully!) came around and saw what a great man he was and how happy he made their daughter. The proposal was a day-long event of Sangeeta being pampered with a manicure/pedicure, her favorite cupcakes, and a new dress and the fabulous day ended with an intimate proposal from Daniel down on one knee (in the dark)! They then celebrated their engagement that night at a local bar in Michigan – how fun!

Due to their different backgrounds, Sangeeta and Daniel got to have two weddings! How lucky is that? Since Sangeeta is Hindu and Daniel is Catholic, they decided to really unite their love and their families by having two ceremonies to honor each culture. Planning their wedding took a lot of effort both near and far, as Daniel and Sangeeta currently live in Texas and Michigan respectively, but were planning their Hindu Wedding for their hometown of Charlotte, NC. Their day in Charlotte went off without a hitch and was full of gorgeous florals, fabulous outfit changes (5 dresses to be exact!), and culturally significant moments. Their inspiration came from wanting to capture both the traditional and the South Indian wedding but with modern design. They chose fall hues with pops of salmon and navy for their color scheme and the bright, vivid colors and glittering gold brought the reception space to life. Back Seat Photography captured all the excitement and some of the best moments of the day for the couple included the Hindu swing ceremony, the exchange of garlands, and officially being called husband and wife for the first time. Sangeeta and Daniel are also total foodies so they wanted their wedding day to be filled with delicious food and cake and they didn’t disappoint! Everything came together perfectly and the entire day was an all-around wonderful time full of family and friends and joyous  celebration of the happy newlyweds.

Congratulations, Sangeeta and Daniel!
