A Forester Groom Means Greenery Galore

Anna + Robby | May 12, 2018

Clean and crisp, white and greenery filled modern wedding at Traine in Raleigh, North Carolina

While out on the town at a local bar cheering on the Wolfpack in downtown Raleigh, Anna and Robby met for the first time. The spontaneous meeting seemed almost destined to happen, because the pair instantly hit it off! From then on, they spent practically every day of their last semester together. They knew they had found their “one” early on.

“I would say on about the fifth date, I knew it was special,” recalled Anna.“He reminded me a lot of my dad – patient, funny and a heart of gold – and I knew I wanted to marry someone like that.”

One weekend, the couple traveled to the Biltmore to spend a romantic couple of days away. After enjoying their time in Asheville, the two stopped by Anna’s family house in Chatham County. Robby, knowing how special Anna’s home was to her, decided to pop the question in her favorite place. When they went for a walk to the pond behind the house, Robby got down on one knee to ask the woman of his dreams to spend the rest of his life with him!

The couple’s wedding was based on simplicity. Robby is a forester, so they incorporated many greenery elements. Anna loves classics and modesty, so clean and crisp was the idea.

Wedding day began with Anna getting dolled up with all her favorite girls by her side. After her hair and makeup was complete, she slipped into her gorgeous wedding gown. Talk about a stunner of a dress. The A-line gown had an embellished top with sheer overlay, low cut back with button detailing and full tulle bottom. It was beautiful, to say the least.

Before the ceremony, Anna and Robby were lined up back-to-back to read letters they wrote to one another. After they finished reading, they turned around for the sweetest first look ever. They went their separate ways, only to meet again a little while later down the aisle.

Guests entered the ceremony space and were welcomed by the beauty of the venue, Traine. The mix of the clean white walls, wooden floors, exposed beams and duct work with mahogany chiavari chairs in the ceremony space was the perfect mix of modern and industrial.

Robby stood awaiting his bride in a navy three piece suit, sans tie. We don’t see it very often, but the no tie really softened and simplified the whole look, and we are fans! Behind Robby was a backdrop of greenery wreaths that – get this – were actually hula hoops painted and draped with greenery. So clever!

The greenery on the backdrop tied into the bouquets the bride and bridesmaids carried that were full of greenery and a few simple white blooms. Mixed with the off-white color of the bridesmaid’s floor length chiffon mismatched dresses, Anna’s wish of a lean and crisp wedding was definitely fulfilled.

After the ceremony, guests headed out to the venue’s amazing terrace, which was full of greenery walls and bistro lights for cocktail hour while the ceremony space was transformed into the reception. Once the room was flipped, it was even more beautiful than before, if that’s even possible.

Guest tables were draped with crisp white linens and centerpieces with a focus on, of course, greenery. There were a cluster of mismatched votives and candle holders, both clear and gold, and greenery all around. The head table sat in front of the ceremony backdrop and had a greenery runner, candles and gold bottom vases where the bridesmaid’s bouquets were repurposed. A look of simplicity, but completely beautiful and romantic. It didn’t hurt that the food from Catering Worksthat the guests enjoyed at these tables was delicious!

There was greenery and candle accents all around, from the bar to the window sill to the cake. The cake was an amazing three-tiered beauty with horizontal textured white frosting. It sat on top of a gold cake stand and was topped with three single white blooms and greenery. The cake tasting and selection was actually a special part of planning for the couple.

“I would have to say the cake tasting was mine, and my fiancé’s, favorite part,” said the bride. “So many decisions to choose from with Catering Works but it was really a treat to sample, and it was one of the big decisions Robby was included in, happily!”

The cake was cut, speeches were given and the dance floor was packed – a combination for a perfect wedding night! As guests grabbed their North Carolina honey and pine tree favors, they gathered outside for a sparkler send off. As the couple made their way outside and through the sparkler tunnel, Robby gave his bride a dip and kiss as they headed off to spend their first night together as Mr. and Mrs.!

Congratulations to the happy couple!
