A French Toast and Mimosa Themed Wedding

Lauren + Danny | Apr 30, 2018

Lauren and Danny met on a website called Coffee Meets Bagels. Lauren fondly remembers, "I was not completely sold on the whole dating app idea and almost blew off our first date, but he picked my favorite restaurant, Totopos. The promise of tacos and margaritas won me over!"

She knew that Danny was “The One” when he gave her the most thoughtful birthday surprise: ten carefully selected gifts along with a beautiful love letter explaining each one. Lauren’s love language is gift giving so the effort and love he put into the gift completely sealed the deal!

A little while later, Danny began working on the perfect proposal. Lauren started to get suspicious when one of her rings mysteriously “went missing” and she found out that Danny had gone alone to her parent’s house -- she knew a proposal had to be coming! Danny had recently graduated from Special Operations Combat Medic Training so Lauren though for sure that the proposal would happen on his graduation day. Nope. The following weekend the two went to Wrightsville Beach and Lauren was convinced a beach proposal would happen. But again, nope! The next week, Danny dropped by Lauren’s house after work. She was in middle of vacuuming and was reluctant to stop but obliged when Danny asked her to join him on the couch. He then surprised her by pulling out the most gorgeous ring and asking her to marry him!  "I started crying and, after saying some very sweet things that I don't remember because I was blinded by the ring, Danny asked me to marry him," said Lauren. "We were on the couch, next to a vacuum, with my hair in a top knot and mascara streaming down my face, but it was perfect."

One of Lauren and Danny's favorite things to do together is go to church on Sunday mornings followed by spending time together over breakfast. So ,they knew that French toast and mimosas were a must when it came time to pick a theme for their wedding! They fell in love with their venue, TRAINE, a historic 1900s venue that served as the original Railway Express operation in Raleigh. The white-washed brick, natural light, and exposed beams provided the perfect backdrop for their big day and was made even more beautiful by the small details and flowers chosen by Lauren and Danny. Their ceremony was gorgeous with a faux fireplace and twinkling candles as the backdrop for the two to say their “I do’s.”

Their reception was filled with beautiful greenery and eucalyptus while peach, lavender, and pink roses provided the perfect happy wash of color. Soft candlelight from the metal mercury votives bounced beautifully off the tablescapes and created a dreamy romantic feel. Using florals and table décor, they were able to incorporate shades of soft blush and green with funky metal pops perfect for the airiness of their venue space. A special touch to the day was how the couple showcased their parents’ and grandparent’s wedding days at their seating chart area, a sweet nod to the longtime loves in their families!

Congratulations, Lauren and Danny!
