Ellen Burkhart + Bryan Wright | Sep 3, 2017
Despite being an interior designer, Ellen and Bryan’s day was all about the reason they were there: “promising forever in the covenant of marriage.” This sweet couple’s love story began thanks to mutual friends through church. Ellen was attending a concert with her friends who invited Bryan to join. A week later, the two went on their first date and have been together ever since.
Fast forward to their engagement which Bryan had been queuing up for weeks. They had plans to hike Crowder’s Mountain but the day rolled around and it was raining on and off so Ellen tried to convince him to abort the plans. Bryan insisted (and, as it turns out, backpacks and raincoats make a great hiding spot for a ring box!), so they went ahead with their plans. Once they got to the top of the mountain, they were relaxing and jumping rock to rock until Bryan finally saw his moment to get down on one knee. The icing on the cake? Ellen’s best friend and husband were hidden behind a rock, taking pictures of the sweet moment. After the proposal, Bryan had one last surprise planned – both of their parents were at his parent’s house for a cookout. It was the perfect way to end the day!
As they planned their wedding, Ellen and Bryan wanted to stay true to themselves and took inspiration from their pastor’s marriage counseling advice: “Truly spend time remembering that this is the one time where every single person that has had an impact through so many seasons of your life is in one room to celebrate one of the best gifts that the Lord has ever given.” It was so no surprise then that this Charlotte couple was most excited to just be married.
Of course, their wedding day, captured by Courtney Price Photography, was still nothing short of spectacular. Ellen chose her venue because of its “openness, natural light and neutral tones.” The grand stone fireplace marked the spot for the ceremony while the décor was full of wood, touches of greenery, neutral shades and lots of romantic candlelight. Pops of light pink, orange and maroon in the bouquets paired beautifully with the steel blue bridesmaid’s dresses. The guys donned grey suits and Bryan, a die-hard Clemson fan, stood out with a fun orange boutonniere as a nod to his alma mater.
While the day was all about celebrating their love, Ellen had two favorite moments:
“The first was walking down the aisle, holding on tight to my daddy but looking into Bryan’s eyes. It seemed as though every single thing around us disappeared and it was just us in that room. Another favorite part was when our wedding party surrounded us during our ceremony and prayed over us and our marriage”
Congratulations to the newlyweds!
