A Military Inspired Vow Renewal

Bridget Rose + Kevin Rose | Dec 30, 2017

Bridget and Kevin met in the spring of 2014 when she was teaching at the same school that Kevin attended high school. As fate would have it, she quickly became friends with Kevin’s mom (who was also a teacher at the school) along with several other teachers and administrators that knew him. Everyone said the two should meet but Bridget happened to be in a relationship from college at the time so the subject of the two meeting was dropped for a while. Eventually, Bridget’s college relationship did end but it wouldn’t be until a few weeks later that Kevin’s mom found out and the matchmaking started up again! The two eventually met when Kevin graduated and returned from West Point and became inseparable for that whole summer until it was time for him to go to Fort Benning in Georgia for Ranger School and Airborne training. Just before Kevin left, the two told each other “I love you” for the first time and within a few days, he asked her to officially be his girlfriend and the two maintained a long-distance relationship with frequent Skype session and visits. Following the completion of his training, Kevin had to move even further away from Bridget to El Paso, Texas, where he eventually found out that he was going to be deployed to Afghanistan in 9 months. Knowing this, he planned a special trip home solely to propose! After a slight change in plans (due to Kevin oversleeping and missing his flight), he finally made it home. Bridget rode with his parents to pick him up at the airport and on the way home, his mom got a call saying an alarm went off at the high school and she needed to go check it out. After dropping Kevin’s dad off at home, the trio arrived at the school where nothing seemed out of place. Kevin claimed to be scared and asked Bridget to check out the auditorium with him and when she walked in, she was shocked to hear “I’ll Be” by Edwin McCain on the sound system. As they walked in front of the auditorium’s stage, a LOVE marquee sign lit up as they walked past and Kevin led Bridget up on the stage and asked her to stand in a heart made of rose petals. They kissed and hugged and at the perfect moment he got down on one knee and simply said, “I love you; Will you marry me?” Then, seemingly out of nowhere, people started cheering and Bridget was even more surprised to see their family members hiding in the dark auditorium! It was the perfect proposal!

Bridget and Kevin actually ended up getting married just a short four months after getting engaged due to his upcoming deployment. They shared a very small, intimate ceremony and reception with just their parents, grandparents, siblings, and Bridget’s maid-of-honor and her fiancé but they knew that they wanted to have a big, traditional wedding on the same date a year later. On their one-year anniversary, Bridget and Kevin had a beautiful vow renewal ceremony where they were joined by dear friends and family from all over. They rededicated themselves to each other and one of the sweetest parts of the ceremony (according to their fabulous photography team, Michelle & Sara Photography) was when Kevin said “I Do” very quickly after the minister began to say “Kevin, do you take Bridget…” He was so beyond eager to recommit himself to Bridget that he just could not wait any longer! Their gorgeous champagne and military-inspired reception came to life with blush and champagne hues being the stars of the décor and they were highlighted by hints of navy and mint green as accent colors. Breathtaking ceiling drapery and lights added drama to the space and soft florals added a colorful touch and tied everything together. Kevin wore his dress Army Service Uniform and Bridget couldn’t have been happier! Bridget’s ivory and champagne lace mermaid dress  was breathtaking and its open back, illusion sides, and light beading were absolute perfection. Her dress was complimented perfectly by the champagne bridesmaid dresses by French Novelty. Her soft updo by Wedding Hair by Liz completely tied her look together and was perfect for the look and feel of the day! The entire day was amazing and perfectly executed by Knots ‘N Such; they helped Bridget through the planning process and Bridget couldn’t rave enough about what a life saver they were! Bridget and Kevin had the best time mingling with everyone during their cocktail hour before having a grand entrance into their fairytale like reception. Guests enjoyed delicious bites by Beau Catering and danced the night away enjoying the official celebration of Bridget and Kevin’s forever love!

Congratulations, Bridget and Kevin!
