Nicole + Brandon | Jun 3, 2017
It all started on the University of North Carolina at Wilmington swim team for Nicole and Brandon. Fast forward a few years to a New Year’s Eve Gala in downtown Raleigh. Brandon had found the perfect spot to pop the question and, although it had been raining all day, a little walk through some mud wasn’t enough to deter his plan. He led Nicole outside the party to a romantic spot under a tree and asked her to marry him! “It was very romantic but kind of funny; my shoes were covered in mud and he had to hover on one knee, but it was imperfectly perfect!” said Nicole.
When it came to planning their Raleigh wedding, Nicole and Brandon knew they wanted a boho, romantic feel. Both are very outdoorsy people and they wanted to incorporate their love of nature into their wedding day. They chose the Oaks at Salem and had a gorgeous outdoor ceremony all photographed by Joanna Sue Photography. Brandon grew up in Florida and Nicole in North Carolina, so they combined sand from their home states into an hourglass to symbolize the two of them becoming one during the sentimental ceremony. In the moments before their romantic union, they shared love letters that talked about their promises to each other.
The boho feel carried over into their reception and as the sun began to set, the open-air tent was beautifully illuminated by elegant string lights and candlelight. One of Nicole’s favorite parts of the décor was the homemade flower and succulent arrangements that tied together the breezy summer look complete with blue and green tones. These ice cream fans played up their personality even more with a sweet ending to the night: an ice cream sundae bar!
Congratulations, Nicole and Brandon!
