Delicate pastels, fabrics and shapes in this timeless bridal portrait session at the Providence Cotton Mill near Charlotte, North Carolina
For many brides, a bridal session is a time to enjoy and show off your wedding look before the big day. Casey worked with her photographer to find a stunning location to do just that: a former-mill-turned-event venue just outside Charlotte with an old-world feel, and lots of texture and charm.
“It was the perfect backdrop with its large, vast, airy space and vintage texture on the inside,” the photographer said, describing the site built more than 130 years ago. “It matched Casey’s unique, elegant and angelic bridal look.”
Casey wore a lace Kitty Chen couture gown with a deep V-neck and low-cut back, full skirt and full-length train. Her blue teardrop pendant necklace on a rose-colored chain and matching earrings added some sparkle. Her hair was styled in a low bun with loose hair softly framing her face. Her natural makeup emphasized her lush lashes and brown eyes.
Casey’s bouquet was a dreamy combination of blush peonies and white roses and hydrangeas, with dusty miller leaves peeking out from the blooms.
In every frame, Casey’s look was ethereal and romantic. The mill’s main tower provided dramatic perspective in some shots, and its open-air construction let in tons of natural light for others. The photographer played up the contrast in textures and colors, like the delicate fabric of Casey’s dress set against rustic red brick and distressed plaster walls, and her white dress alongside the earthy boxwood wall and urn planters.
The sunlight that streamed through the mill’s arched windows and the breeze that lifted Casey’s train also worked to create some beautiful photos.
“Casey’s portraits were just simply elegant, classic and romantic,” said the photographer.
Later in the shoot Casey slipped on a denim jacket, which a friend embellished with the bride’s future last name in a playful script. Then came the veil for a grand, final accessory. The extra-long piece had tiny crystals stitched along the edges, and the cascading fabric elegantly completed her look.
“Doing a bridal session gives the bride more photos of just her in her dream dress at a location that she also loves,” the photographer said.
We couldn’t agree more. This one-of-a-kind location and Casey’s bridal look came together beautifully!
