Madeline + Shaun | Mar 3, 2018
Elegant and timeless wedding with white, navy and blush tones at the Ryan Nicholas Inn in Simpsonville, South Carolina.
After Madeline met Shaun in Kindergarten, it didn’t take long for the two to become best childhood friends. Fast forward a number of years, when they parted ways and went in different directions for college.
While Madeline cheered at North Greenville University, Shaun often visited to watch his friend play football. They eventually gave dating a go and a couple years later, they got engaged. During a photoshoot for her friend’s portfolio, Madeline was handed a Bible with her first name, and Shaun’s last name, engraved on the front with a letter inside. Moments later, he was behind her on one knee.
Their wedding day was timeless and elegant. Every detail was intentional and meaningful. A white, navy and blush pink color palette emphasized the romantic look.
“We wanted to look back on our day knowing that we got to soak in every single moment intentionally,” recalls the bride. “And looking back, we know we did just that!”
When the big day arrived, the bride and her bridesmaids spent the morning in their matching deep blue satin robes and floral pajama pants, getting their hair and makeup done. The girls shared laughs and tears while Madeline, in her lace-trimmed white robe, read letters and opened gifts from her loved ones.
Once the bridesmaids slipped into their blush pink, off-the-shoulder gowns from Bella Bridesmaids Charleston, they patiently waited for their first peek at the bride in her wedding day look.
Madeline was an absolute vision in a sleeveless, off-the-shoulder dress with a row of white buttons trailing down the back. On her feet were the most gorgeous pair of strappy heels, adorned with royal blue stones. She completed the classic look with a dainty rhinestone belt, a lace cathedral veil, pearl cluster drop earrings and her grandmother’s bracelet.
“I thought I knew what I wanted since I was a little girl,” said the bride. “But when I went to try that vision on, it wasn’t what I thought it was going to be and I went in an entirely new direction!”
Shaun and the groomsmen stepped out looking handsome and sleek in custom-made navy suits, brown shoes and blush ties. Our favorite detail of all was the pair of flamingo socks each one wore to tie together the look.
For Madeline, the most special and intentional part of the day was the much-anticipated first look. She had her parents walk her down to where she was going to meet Shaun, and when she finally lay eyes on her groom, everything completely stopped. For that sweet and emotional moment, they were the only two people in the world.
“I can remember every single emotion, word that was spoken and tear that was shed,” she said. “It was such a special moment that I am forever grateful for!”
As the bridal party and their guests arrived at the ceremony, all eyes were drawn to the dreamy, white columns and balconies draped with fresh greenery, and blush and white florals. Inside, the fairytale came to life with more eucalyptus, hydrangeas and roses decorating the chairs, altar and grand staircase. Along the aisle were blush rose petals and hanging overhead was the most beautiful crystal chandelier.
“I am a sucker for flowers, and we wanted to smell flowers when you walked through the doors of our ceremony,” the bride said.
Upon entering, guests first signed their names and well wishes on a framed paper reading, “Grateful & blessed.” The flower girls made their way down the aisle carrying baskets of greenery filled with delicate flower petals, while the ring bearers got to carry a beautiful, handcrafted flower on top of a Bible that belonged to each one of the bride’s grandmothers.
After a beautiful moment of singing and worship, the two exchanged vows that they had written for one another and finally shared their first kiss as a married couple.
While Sara Touchet Photography captured the newlyweds and the bridal party, guests made their way into another room where the most magical reception took place. They marveled at the row of sparkling chandeliers, bundles of greenery and abundance of assorted blush and white florals. There was even a photobooth so guests could take memories from the special night with them.
Soon after, the couple and the wedding party arrived and headed straight for the dance floor that was lit with a big white “T.” More tears were shed as Madeline and Shaun shared their first dance, followed by memorable dances with their each of their parents.
The guests were seated in white chairs at round tables covered with textured navy linens. On top were the most amazing centerpieces filled with more greenery, roses, hydrangeas and other beautiful florals. With the help of a fabulous DJ, everyone danced the night away – including the Clemson tiger!
“We are huge Clemson fans and I surprised Shaun and had the Clemson tiger come to our reception!” Madeline recalled. “It was a huge hit and Shaun loved that surprise!”
Couture Cakes of Greenville created an elegant and white, six-tiered cake topped with the bride’s new initials. Every other tier of the cake was detailed with intricate, textured icing, which gave it a chic flair. A string of pink roses climbed the side of the cake, making it almost too pretty to eat!
Once the cake was cut and toasts were made, the guests closed out the night with a very special send-off. With sparklers in one hand and a Krispy Kreme donutas a favor in the other hand, the couple’s loved ones lined the doorway and the balconies for the perfect ending to the most perfect day.
Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Turner!
