Demetria Pipkin + Caston Brown-Butler | Sep 22, 2017
A job fair at their shared workplace, the Charlotte Fire Department, first brought Demetria and Caston together. A couple of months after the fair, the two went on their first official date. When it came time to take things a step further, Caston planned the sweetest surprise proposal for Demetria. On a Sunday after church, they went to brunch with all Demetria’s family and closest friends at one of her favorite spots in Uptown Charlotte, Dandelion Market. She had been out celebrating a friend’s birthday the night before, so it took some persuading to get her to go to brunch but as they were dining, Demetria turned to see their waitress bringing out a beautiful cake that said, “Will you marry me?” In complete shock, she turned to Caston only to find him down on one knee asking her to be his wife!
The two planned a vintage romance themed wedding at Separk Mansion, a beautiful historic venue right outside of Charlotte with the help of Enchanted Weddings by Design. They fell in love with the venue as soon as they saw it thanks to the simple elegance and stunning chandeliers. Their outdoor ceremony was held in the gorgeous garden behind the mansion and In His Image Photography was there to capture it all. Demetria was the picture of bridal perfection in her flowing gown with its high sheer neckline and lace detailing. Her veil was the perfect romantic touch, exuding a vintage feel. Their ceremony was so sweet and happy tears were shed for the love of the happy couple!
Demetria and Caston loved the natural beauty of the venue and didn’t want to take away from that, so they kept their reception décor simple yet beautiful with lots of candles and flowers. Since their wedding day fell on the first day of fall, they chose a color scheme of wine, navy blue and silver. The textured navy table cloth of the sweetheart table paired perfectly with the wine-colored florals and the flickering candlelight created an air of dreamy romance.
The best memory of the day for the newlyweds? Demetria says, “was the first dance. We picked a song that was special to us and had no idea how many others would enjoy it. To hear everyone singing all the words so loudly as we danced was such a happy feeling.”
Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs.!
