Christy Hill + Will Outlaw | Sep 9, 2017
Christy and Will knew each other professionally (she’s a pharmaceutical representative, he’s a physician) before their relationship took a romantic turn. In October 2015, the two took a trip to their favorite vacation spot, Hawaii, where they enjoyed their favorite island, Maui. They stayed a couple of nights in a small town called Paia and decided to watch the sunrise one morning from Mount Haleakala, a dormant volcano that is Maui’s highest point and the perfect place for a proposal. The two made it to the top of the mountain and while watching the gorgeous sunrise, Will asked Christy to marry him!
The two wine lovers had plans to honeymoon in Italy so a wine-themed wedding at Autumn Creek Vineyards seemed only appropriate. They envisioned a simple yet classy day which was perfectly complemented by the natural beauty of the vineyard. Their outdoor ceremony took place in a gazebo overlooking a pond and the rolling vineyards. Floral-topped wine barrels were the perfect ceremony décor accent for their wine-themed celebration and everything was captured perfectly by Elly's Photography.
Their reception was held at the venue’s pavilion which featured natural wood elements and open sliding doors overlooking the sprawling vineyard grounds. Christy and Will chose champagne and gold for their main colors and incorporated Tiffany Blue, one of Christy’s favorite colors, as a secondary color. They wanted to make their day as true to the two of them as possible – from their favorite food truck (and spot of their first date!) catering a fabulous sit-down dinner to personalized, stemless wine glasses favors for their guests. They decorated the reception tables (which were named after different types of wine!) with tall and short floral arrangements in shades of soft blush and cream and added touches of greenery and lanterns for a romantic feel.
In keeping with the rustic wine theme ambiance, they used an old wooden door over two wine barrels for their cake and dessert table and added Tiffany Blue drapery. They wanted to give guests several dessert options so they used their favorite dessert shop to do an entire dessert spread! One of Christy’s favorite details of the day was that their two pups were memorialized in fondant replicas that “popped out” from the bottom of the wedding cake!
Will’s children, Julia and Harrison, are a huge part of their relationship so a super special part of the day was their decision to do a “Family Dance” in lieu of the typical father-daughter and mother-son dances. They started with a slow song where Will and Julia did a father-daughter dance while Harrison and Christy had a son-stepmother dance (aww!) then the music switched to “I’m Too Sexy” by Right Said Fred and the four of them did a fun and silly choreographed dance that got the party started!
Congratulations, Christy and Will!
