Brittany Wurdeman + Michael Kleffner | May 20, 2017
Brittany and Michael met during their freshman year at Wake Forest University. At the time, Brittany was dating a guy who lived in Michael’s residence hall. They eventually broke up and although Brittany and Michael went on a few dates, nothing serious came of it and they continued to date other people. Their relationship was on-again-off-again during college until their first year of graduate school when the timing was right and things got serious. After graduation, they both got jobs in different parts of the country and decided to try long distance, Michael in St. Louis and Brittany in Charlotte. In March of 2015, Michael moved to Charlotte and they were able to try their relationship in the same city – and of course, it was nothing but magic!
Michael knew he would marry Brittany from the day he met her so it was important to him to plan the perfect proposal. Brittany isn’t a huge fan of surprises so the two went ring shopping together and picked out the perfect ring. Knowing how close Brittany was to her mom, Michael wanted to involve her in some way so over Thanksgiving, the two went to Tampa to be with her family. He planned a day full of surprises for Brittany, from massages and lunch on the beach followed by the biggest one yet – a sunset proposal on the beach! And the best part? Michael had a surprise engagement party with her parents and local family planned at the Melting Pot right afterward!
Brittany and Michael’s wedding day was absolutely beautiful with touches of both of them. The blush, navy, and gold color palette was perfect for the modern flair of The Mint Museum Uptown and added a touch of classic romance and sparkle. Brittany’s flowing gown was absolute perfection and it was such a special aspect of the day because she had picked it out with her mom before her mom passed away. The bridal party looked fabulous in their long navy dresses and gray suits paired with blush bouquets and boutonnieres. The food was amazing and guests raved about the catering talent of Something Classic while Nona’s Sweets brought Brittany and Michael’s dessert dreams to life with a gorgeous four-tiered cake covered in bright pink flowers. A nod to the couple was the dessert bar – complete with St. Louis Gooey Butter Cakes and s’mores bars (and of course, gorgeous signs by Writing on Hearts to explain what they were!). The day was planned to perfection by Something Perfect Weddings and the newlyweds were able to truly focus on just enjoying themselves. The party was one for the books with everyone dancing the night away before a glow stick send off on the museum’s signature staircase.
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Kleffner!
