This popular wedding style is the perfect glamorous look for a vintage bride. Drawing from the 1920s and 1930s, the Art Deco theme has an eclectic artistic look. Think geometric shapes, pearls and feathers, bold metallics and The Great Gatsby. Sound up your alley? Here’s a few ways you can incorporate this style into your wedding day!
Your color palette should be a little more basic. Most art deco weddings keep to black, white and/or grey with a gold accent. That doesn’t mean you have to limit yourself to those, but it will really help drive home that old school glamorous style. If you want a pop of color, a bold red or an emerald green jeweled tone would be ideal.
The centerpieces, signage, furniture and accent décor you choose will really set the tone. For starters, centerpieces should be lush and simple in color but can be totally extravagant with the “extras.” Think tall white hydrangeas arrangements with pearls or crystals dripping down.
All the signage can be kept on style too with a 1920s font framed in a geometric shaped frame or an ornate gold frame. From the welcome sign to the menu cards, and the programs to the bar signs, show off your style.
Gold chiavari chairs are the perfect addition for the glammed up look, as are tables draped in floor length black linens or even some gold sequin linens for accent tables like the cake or gift table. If you plan to have a soft seating area, aim for vintage velvet furniture to stay on style.
Accent the room with pearls and feathers and even fun props like hats and masks, especially if you are having a photobooth. You can even keep your cake true to the theme with black and gold, and geometric shapes. Maybe add a signature prohibition era cocktail or champagne tower for something extra!
Attire and Beauty
Glam up your bridal look for your Art Deco wedding with an over the top embellished dress and bold beauty style. You can have as many sequins, jewels and feathers on your dress as your heart desires without it feeling like too much with a 1920s-esque wedding. Go as bold – or not bold – with your makeup and rock that red lip and smoky eye (or don’t if that’s not your style!). Wear your hair in a bold, slick up-do with a feather hair piece or leave it down a bejeweled headband. The point is, with a glamour Gatsby theme, no look is too much!
