Backyard LoveStream Wedding

Jennifer + Derrick | Aug 9, 2020

Intimate LoveStream wedding with soft lavender hues and backyard views at a private residence in Lynwood, Illinois

Jennifer and Derrick met on a dating app, and after talking for a while, finally went out for their first date. They had an immediate attraction to one another and ended up talking all night - until the restaurant closed.

“We both felt an instant connection with each other and didn’t want the night to end,” said Jennifer.

Fast forward to the proposal, when their lake trip got rained out and they decided to get a nice hotel room. Jennifer walked in to find decorations, including candles Derrick lit on the table. He told her to look into one of the candles, which was a moment Jennifer would never forget.

“I looked into one of the candles and there was the ring!” said Jennifer.

With the pandemic on the rise, Jennifer and Derrick decided to move their wedding celebrations from the original venue to her parents’ backyard. They also incorporated LoveStream into their special day, which allowed them to live stream their wedding in real-time to all of their loved ones.

“Since COVID-19 happened, we decided that we would only invite 40-50 people,” said Jennifer. “My wedding planner suggested that we used a live stream for the guests who would not be able to attend the wedding in person.”

For her bridal look, Jennifer was radiant in a diamond-white gown with a strapless sweetheart neckline. The bodice was embellished with extravagant beading and embroidery, while the full tulle skirt truly made her look like a princess. She wore a fingertip length veil with an embellished trim, and loose curls from her updo framed her face exquisitely.

Derrick wore a sleek, three-piece slate grey suit with a white dress shirt, white tie and boutonniere made from an ivory spray rose. His groomsmen wore soft lavender ties and vests, which paired gorgeously with the bridesmaids’ mismatched lilac gowns.

In the charming backyard, guests gathered beneath a majestic white-sided wedding tent with twinkling market lights that added an element of coziness. There were panels of dramatic drapery hanging in place of the altar, where Derrick stood as he eagerly awaited his bride.

Not even masks could conceal the radiant smiles on everyone’s faces as Jennifer walked down the aisle. She carried a vibrant wedding bouquet of lavender, lilac and ivory roses - mixed in with luscious greenery and embellished with tiny gemstones. The ceremony to follow, officiated by Jennifer’s brother’s godmother, was romantic, sentimental and intimate, including the exchange of traditional Christian vows.

When the ceremony came to a close, the newlyweds slipped away for a few photos. As guests mingled (at a socially-safe distance) and the reception kicked off, the couple made their grand entrance and shared their first dance! They danced right into the cake-cutting, which featured a two-tiered buttercream wedding cake with piping, pearl embellishments and a topper reading, “Mr. and Mrs. Nelson.”

Just before dinner, the wedding photographer snuck away to a lush, grassy lawn with Jennifer, Derrick and their wedding party for a photo shoot. The natural summer light was streaming in more beautifully than ever, giving everyone an extra glow.

Back under the tent, tables were covered in ivory linens and topped with lavender fabric runners, statement floral centerpieces and floating single bud arrangements in tall glass vases. At the newlyweds’ sweetheart table, there was a large laser-cut sign reading, “Mr. and Mrs.” in glamorous, metallic silver letters that sparkled.

After the heartfelt toasts commenced, guests enjoyed a buffet with all the Southern comfort fixings as well as celebratory sips from the bar. While the DJ spun a few final beats, Jennifer and Derrick danced the rest of the night away, with their closest friends and families by their sides.

Congratulations, Jennifer and Derrick!
