Boho Vibes with The Babe

Jul 21, 2019

Tropical themed styled shoot with an intimate feel and bright orange, pink and green colors at The Providence Cotton Mill in Maiden, North Carolina

It may not be summer anymore, but it doesn’t mean we can’t re-live those warm and bright days with this tropical inspired, boho feeling styled shoot. From the eclectic and colorful florals to the bride’s flower crown to the neon sign behind the peacock chair set up, everything about this shoot was amazing.

For starters, there was the attire of the bride and groom, who by the way, are a real bride and groom that have been married more than nine years. So, their chemistry certainly didn’t hurt things.

The bride wore a vintage inspired gown with thin straps and a crisscross tied back. Her colorful arm tattoo brightened up her look and complimented the bright colored flower crown she wore on top of her loose curled and braided hair.

Opposite the bride was the groom, in an equally amazing outfit. He had a dark turquoise velvet jacket with black trim to match his black pants and wore a simple white dress shirt to let his flowery tie pop. His boutonniere also brought more color to his look with a bright orange rose and some accenting pink buds.

The bright pops of color on the bride and groom were just the start to the vivid colors featured throughout the shoot.

“I was absolutely amazed by the stunning color palette,” said the photographer. “We were transported into a tropical oasis.”

The first set up was the ceremony, set against a whitewashed cement wall. An arbor made out of branches was decorated with bright orange, pink and fuchsia tropical florals, accenting greenery and banana leaves. When the bride stood underneath the arbor with her bouquet in hand it was magical. Her bouquet had coordinating bright colors, but more eclectic florals and tropical greenery.

Before moving into the second location, the bride and groom tossed petals into the air in celebration of their love and it made for some of our favorite pictures!

Inside the old mill was a wooden farm table filled with the most vivid colors and bright florals. The open, floor to ceiling window openings allowed in so much natural light it truly made the inside feel like it was outside.

On each end of the table was a tall centerpiece with bright, tropical florals sat on top of rectangular acrylic stands. Down the center of the table was more loose greenery and colored blooms.

Each place setting was set with a vintage china plate and flatware alongside eclectic drinkware. Everyone had two glasses, but no two glasses were alike. Some were tinted orange or turquoise, while others were clear with a fuchsia rim.

Also, on the table was one of the most colorful cakes we have ever seen dripping in florals.

“The cake was a work of art,” the photographer told. “The frosting painted on thick like it was crafted by an impasto master.”

After taking their seats for a little bit, the couple got up and twirled and danced their way through the open spaces of the venue and ended up at the sweetest lounge area.

“The peacock chair and side table were also decorated with the tropical flowers and the bride and groom were invited to kick their feet back on the hand-woven ottoman,” explained the photographer. “The best part? The sign hanging above the seating reading ‘I got you babe.’”

The neon sign was definitely one of our favorite accenting pieces of this shoot. Especially with the “babe” part of the sign in a bright pink color that matched the rest of the brightly colored florals.

The couple cozied up on the chair and shared one final kiss to celebrate their love.
