Sarah Thornley + Stephen Vickers | Jul 22, 2017
Sarah and Stephen met online in February 2014; however, the two had been going to the same university for several years and must have unknowingly passed by each other at least a hundred times before. They agreed to go on a date, and when Sarah got home that night she just knew that she had met her future husband. The couple loves the mountains and travel their frequently. On one such trip, Stephen took Sarah up towards Tennessee and on the way, the drive took a special turn when he pulled over in front of a 1900s hydroelectric river dam and asked Sarah to marry him. Of course, she said “yes!”
Sarah and Stephen had a gorgeous summer wedding at The Farm at Brush Arbor, a beautiful outdoor venue right outside of Charlotte. The inspiration behind their big day was “rustic elegance” with pops of aqua and blush details. They wanted the rustic feeling of being outside on beautiful farmland but with all the elegance of a southern wedding. The two incorporated their love of the outdoors in the setting with beautiful flowers and natural elements. When it came to the decor, Sarah envisioned lots of color and flowers that were arranged in a more “perfectly unstructured” style. Sarah loves flowers and she wanted her florals to seem "as though you were walking through my grandmother's English garden.” The reception had a mix of high and low centerpieces with golden candlelight and flowers and the table place settings were vintage mix-and-match china on gold chargers with turquoise colored napkins. Sarah was a vision in her lace Pronovias gown and her Mantilla-style cathedral veil, which was a loving nod to Stephen’s Cuban roots. Not only was their wedding full of the beautiful aqua and blush details that Sarah and Stephen had envisioned, but their love truly shone through and the joyous day was everything that they had hoped for and more.
Congratulations, Sarah and Stephen!
