Lindsey Bandel + Derrick Sink | May 21, 2016
Derrick first saw Lindsey at Whiskey River before the ACC Championship. It didn’t take long before Derrick noticed the cute, outgoing blonde hanging out with her friends in the Charlotte bar. He patiently waited until the moment was right before making his move. After a few minutes of good conversation and a couple of laughs, they exchanged numbers.
Derrick said his first impression of Lindsey was that she was “classy in an edgy type of way (similar to me), and she has a strong personality that you need your ‘A’ game to keep up with conversation wise.” Lindsey thought Derrick was “adorable. He seemed funny, witty and cute so I figured let’s see what happens.”
So one week later, they had their first official date at Del Friscos. They spent a few hours getting to know each other before continuing the date over dinner at Brio’s next door. It turned into a six hour first date! “We really connected quickly and our time together was great,” said Derrick.
Derrick says he knew he loved Lindsey while watching Anchor Man 2 at the Epicenter. “I remember the moment, I looked at the side of her face and had a warming sensation that came over my body. I didn’t mean to but I whispered ‘I love you.’” They love doing everything together now including playing tennis, golfing, hiking, trying new restaurants and drinking wine.
And their proposal was so them. They started the night off at their favorite sushi place, EMZY in uptown Charlotte. After a few glasses of wine and sushi rolls, Derrick asked Lindsey to go for a walk in Bearden Park. Right in front of the waterfall, he sat her down on a rock, got down on one knee and popped the question. It was all captured by a friend and then celebrated with close friends at a local rooftop bar.
