Charlotte has officially solidified its place in the craft beer world and over the past few years has become home to some amazing craft breweries. Along with these breweries comes a photographer’s dream in the form of some fantastic locations the lend themselves as the backdrops for amazing themed photo shoots. Sugar Creek Brewery is one such example and its industrial brick, copper, and wood tones served as the inspiration behind this Prohibition era themed shoot by Details Wedding Planning and LunahZon Photography. Black, copper, and pops of teal formed the color palette that highlighted the moody hues of the event space and exuded the shoot’s speakeasy vibe.
The bride looked stunning in a form-fitting Kenneth Winston gown with incredible sequin detail and a daring, low beaded back. The delicate pearl accents along the neckline and straps gave the intricate dress a vintage feel and was perfectly complemented by period earrings and a headpiece, both made with metal and pearls that mirrored the design on the dress. The bride’s smokey makeup and perfectly stylized 1920s sideswept updo completed the vintage look. The groom was classically handsome yet smoldering in a charcoal three-piece suit and his subtle, burgundy tie matched perfectly with the deep tones of the dramatic florals.
Set against the backdrop of the copper brewery tanks and industrial venue accents, the rich color scheme and décor was the perfect balance of moody and romantic. The table design consisted of gilded beaded chargers, ivory china, and copper flatware over a black linen with teal napkins. A deeply colored, low sitting floral arrangement served as the centerpiece for the table and the rich floral hues were echoed in the bride’s bouquet, groom’s boutonniere, and floral accents on the cake table. The cake itself was a work of art that integrated Prohibition era detail by way of ornate copper piping over an oxidized metal smooth finish.
And finally, what would a Prohibition themed photo shoot be without a little boozy detail? A beer, whiskey, and cigar table was set up to specifically pay homage to the speakeasy theme and was perfectly tied in with its teal linen and galvanized metal accents. Lighthearted quotes by famous libation enthusiasts were scattered amongst the set-up and were the perfect summary of the 1920s mindset.
From the styling details to the location’s ambiance, the Prohibition era truly came alive in this shoot and, in the end, the results were nothing short of spectacular.
