Sage and Navy Farm Wedding

Katie Davis + Daniel Boulware | Apr 23, 2016

Daniel and Katie’s love story is one that definitely belongs in a romantic novel. The two met in June 2011 at Carolina Cross Connection, a Christian outreach camp. Although they were in different camps, they met briefly during training. A week into the summer, Daniel wrote a letter to Katie and asked her to write him back. They remained pen pals throughout the rest of the summer until Daniel wrote to her ask to visit her in Boone where she attended college.

“I have a clear memory of sitting at camp in 2011 and telling my matron of honor that somehow I just knew that if we were to start dating, I would marry him,” Katie said. “I barely knew him, but I had a feeling and I never doubted it! We started our relationship with the intention of marriage, and that goal guided our decisions while dating.”

The two continued to date long distance for four years, traveling every weekend to see each other. While it was challenging, Katie said they “learned a lot about communication and grace, and it makes being together now so much sweeter.”

The two tied the knot in a vineyard in the mountains in April and according to their photographer: “Katie shed happy tears all day long, and her first look with her father and brother will bring tears to your eyes

For Katie and Daniel, they had four main goals when they set out to plan their Charlotte wedding: first, to plan more for their marriage than their wedding; second, to celebrate with as many friends and family as possible; third, for their guests to be comfortable and happy; and, finally, for the Gospel to be shared.

Katie was drawn to the soft, romantic, organic feel of the greenery in both the dresses and the flowers. Every element of their wedding had deep meaning: getting ready in a family friend’s home, the first look with her dad and brother, the musicians who performed at their ceremony also worked at the camp where they met, and a dear friend officiating.

“I wouldn’t trade anything for the few moments I got back to back with my groom before walking down the aisle,” she said.

Shout Out to Her Charlotte Wedding Vendor Team:

“We were very fortunate to work with a great vendor team.

Susan Patterson did our florals, and she took my vision and ran with it.

Jessi Nichols Photography was fantastic from our initial contact. Although she is a phenomenal photographer, she is a better friend (but she is a really great photographer!). She made every step of the process smooth, and it was so sweet to plan, prepare for, and ultimately share our day with her. We couldn't have asked for more.

Good Earth Films was also fantastic to work with. James and Alex made Daniel and I feel so comfortable, and were so wonderful. We couldn't imagine our whole wedding weekend without them.

We also loved working with Baker Buffalo Creek Vineyard. It is such a dreamy venue with no limit to space. We also love that we can go back and get a glass of wine and reminisce!”
