City Love in a Southern Place

Nov 1, 2017

This fashionable styled shoot was inspired by the desire to bring to life a picturesque wedding for the chic, city bride. The team envisioned a bride who lives in the South but wanted to show off the ultra-lux side of her Southern city to guests.

The black-tie affair embraced the love that the couple has for each other and for their city, all expertly captured by E. Henigan Studios. The look for the shoot started with an ultra-modern invitation suite in shades of navy, teal, and emerald marble. The Something Perfect planning team knew that using a color combination of rich jewel tones paired with sharp geometric shapes would bring to life the modern feel. The team chose the dramatic space of Founder’s Hall in the center of Uptown Charlotte whose emerald green floors set the stage for the color palette of emerald, maroon, violet, navy and gold. The surrounding city skyscrapers could be seen through the soaring glass ceiling of the venue and the indoor trees added the perfect amount of southern charm to the modern space.

The florals were rich, deep and lush, full of maroon flowers with pops of violet, navy paired and hints of greenery. Paired with gold accents, the tablescape was the epitome of modern class with acrylic menu cards and place cards. Navy linens paired with a shimmering lilac tablecloth tied the look together and provided the perfect high-end, romantic feel. An amazing three-tiered geometric themed cake with gold accents and metallic jewel-toned décor pulled together all of the colors of the shoot to tie everything together.

The sequined bridesmaid’s dresses were the perfect “something extra” while the fashionable bride was dressed in a tiered ballgown with glittering accents. Her gorgeous gown was paired with maroon heels and a bold lip color. Of course, no city wedding is complete without an ultra-chic lounge space for the boys to gather over whiskey with the city bustling in the background. The men all looked sharp in their black tuxes and bowties.

To complete the night, the bride let her hair down and changed into a sparkling, sleek number for the exit. The couple was whisked away in a luxury getaway car, leaving the lights of the city behind them!
