Kasey + Cameron | Mar 16, 2017
Modern, clean and simple. Those three words fueled the inspiration behind this wedding styled shoot that aimed to capture the essence of great poets. Using flowers, copper touches and jewelry, the team pictured a wedding for a creative couple who is in love with the creativity and vision of their hired vendors and wanted to recreate the essence of the connection between the bride and groom.
In the words of Ryan from Jocelyn & Ryan Photography, the idea was to create a vision “where despite the turmoil surrounding the couple, when they are in each other’s orbit, it’s all about them and how they create their own sanctuary of love and beauty.”
Their choice of models couldn’t have been more fitting as Kasey and Cameron are a real couple who had been married the previous October. Unfortunately, on the day of their wedding, Hurricane Matthew struck the coast of North Carolina and their coastal wedding day had more than its share of setbacks. Both the ceremony and reception venues lost power and completely flooded, vendors had to cancel, and after a few hours of agonizing decision making, Kasey and Cameron decided to delay their wedding until the next day. A friend of theirs even ended up getting certified online and married the couple that night so they could keep their original special wedding date! The next day was beautiful and sunny but the loss of power caused the couple to lose all their food and cake so it was an abbreviated reception and photos were limited due to the ground being saturated from the storm. Since they photographed Kacey and Cameron’s engagement pictures and wedding, Jocelyn & Ryan knew the couple would be the perfect choice for this shoot “knowing it would not replace the day they lost to Mother Nature but hoping to be able to give them a little piece back of what they had lost that day and more photos to look back on over the years.”
From start to finish, the entire shoot completely embodied the team’s vision. The invitations were hand-laid with copper foil along with the details in the place setting cards and menu created by The Oblique Pen. A gorgeous farm table was set up for the couple and decorated with copper chargers under white embossed china. Overhead, a greenery garland, created by Knots ‘n Such, hung above the couple's heads from a copper bar. Springs of eucalyptus graced the menus and copper candlesticks in various heights added romantic flair to the setting. The colors and theme of the shoot were also captured in the plating of the delectable-looking food. Dessert consisted of several teacakes in lieu of one giant cake which were chosen for their daintiness and individuality of the scaled-down portions.
In regards to the jewelry aspect of the theme, an expert gemologist chose classically styled pieces with a modern twist. The rings were stunning, the bride’s pearl earring and necklace set was exquisite, and the groom’s copper toned watch tied the whole look together.
Overall, the entire shoot was perfect; not a single detail was left unnoticed. Every single aspect came together perfectly, and a fantastic couple got to have the wedding pictures they deserve!
