Intimate vow renewal with boho-inspired florals and warm, seasonal tones at The Alida in Savannah, Georgia
Lynne’s cousin was one of James’s close friends, and he finally made the introduction during James’s senior year of high school. It didn’t matter that they were high school rivals...because they knew from the first time they hung out that the connection was undeniable.
Now 20 years in the making, Lynne and James gathered their closest loved ones for an intimate vow renewal ceremony in the heart of Savannah. Nestled in the city’s revitalized river district, the modern hotel space unites timeless charm and the essence of Southern hospitality.
“On this wonderful day, we vowed to share with our closest family and friends our love for one another and recommit our marriage vows after 20 years,” said Lynne.
Inside one of the hotel suites, Lynne slipped on her breathtaking off-white wedding gown with a figure-sculpting mermaid silhouette. The dress featured a gold-accented lace overlay and romantic elements including a playful tulle skirt, a dramatic plunging neckline and a deep open back.
She wore crystal drop earrings with a matching collar necklace and added a pair of glamorous, embellished stilettos. To top it all off, her hair was twisted into a sleek updo with an elegant tulle headpiece.
James wore a custom navy suit, designed by none other than himself. The suit featured a custom stitch script inside the jacket honoring the special day, as well as gold stitching and buttonholes to tie in the gold accents of the decor. He paired it with floral patterned socks and a merlot-colored, jacquard print tie.
“We both love vintage yet modern design,” said Lynne, “so we went with a style that could intertwine both at once.”
For the vow renewal ceremony, the space was set around a custom-built backdrop. The wooden geometric structure was painted white and adorned with floral installations, which were actually designed by Lynne. Each arrangement was full of fresh silver dollar eucalyptus, blue thistle, succulent leaves, and blush and deep red blooms.
“The florals were very boho,” said Lynne. “The perfect blend of navy, marsalas, dusty roses, and creams.”
Her bridal bouquet reflected the same boho-chic floral design, which she carried confidently as she walked down the aisle toward the love of her life. She and James proceeded to exchange heartfelt and emotional vows in the presence of their closest friends and families.
“The sharing of special words from friends and family that we have had an impact on throughout the 20 years of marriage was inspiring and encouraging,” said Lynne.
After the intimate ceremony, the photographer captured the couple on the rooftop, with baby blue skies and historic city views painting the backdrop. They also posed in a trendy lounge area - exuding sophistication with chic furniture and moody wallpaper dripping in gold.
Meanwhile, the space was transformed for the dinner party, where guests were greeted with a glass of sparkling wine. On each wine glass, there was a custom tag which served as their escort card to tables covered in deep navy suede linens and floating glass candles. Fall florals towered over the tables, cascading from tall gold geometric stands.
More florals were incorporated into the wedding cake design as seasonal garnishes, which added a whimsical touch to the petite, single-tiered white cake. It was served alongside a colorful array of sweet treats, including frothy pink cupcakes.
“The cake was absolutely amazing,” said Lynne, “and we had our favorite people there to celebrate with us.”
We wish Lynne and James another 20 years (and many more) full of love and happiness!
