Dreamy DIY Wedding

Jeane + Kevin | Oct 13, 2019

Elegant and romantic fall wedding with DIY elements at the Historic DeKalb Courthouse in Decatur, Georgia

Kevin was one step away from deleting his online dating app when he came across Jeane’s profile. It seemed like fate that a Chicago girl relocated to Memphis for her medical rotations and hopped on the same dating app - catching Kevin’s attention as he gave it one last whirl.

“The two swiped right and grabbed bubble tea on their first date,” said the PR rep, “where Jeane actually diagnosed and solved Kevin’s back pain - perks of dating a med student.”

Fast forward to a beautiful engagement and not one, but two weddings to plan!

“With Jeane being moved to Fort Benning with the U.S. Army and Kevin leaving his job to join her,” said the PR rep, “the two held an intimate courthouse wedding in 2017 to seal the deal and set their sights on their 2019 bash as a way to celebrate with family and friends.”

Jeane and Kevin tied the knot (again) at a gorgeous historic courthouse venue on a beautiful fall day in Georgia. The space boasted beautifully arched windows and marble walls, which the couple complemented with unique DIY wedding decor elements.

“The couple’s family and wedding party came together to produce their dream wedding,” said the PR rep, “taking over setup, room flipping, and cleanup.”

The dream wedding started with the dream wedding dress: an ivory ball gown with a dramatic plunging neckline and full tulle skirt. The sheer embellished bodice added a pop of glam, while the romantic open back gave the dress a feminine touch. Jeane completed the look with crystal drop earrings and a matching hairpiece in her twisted updo.

Kevin looked classic in a sleek black and white tuxedo with a handmade boutonniere consisting of complementing greenery, fuchsia and ivory florals. Like the boutonnieres, the bridal bouquet was handmade and full of willow eucalyptus, fern leaves and fluffy white dahlias.

The DIY wedding florals continued in the ceremony decor, where a large garland of greenery and florals was installed in front of the beautiful archway. An abundance of candlelight lit up the arbor and more floating glass candles lined the aisle on beds of greenery. The courthouse’s historic marble walls and terrazzo floors gave the room an aura of elegance.

Once the guests were seated, the wedding party proceeded down the aisle - including the most adorable flower girl in a blush flower crown. The groomsmen donned dapper tuxedos with dusty rose bow ties, while the bridesmaids wore knee-length satin blush dresses. Their smaller bouquets complemented the all-white bridal arrangement with additional blush roses and sprays of astilbe.

All eyes were on Jeane as she gracefully walked down the aisle, with her layered fingertip veil fluttering behind her. Once she was standing at the altar with Kevin, the world disappeared, and they were the only two people in the room. They incorporated their favorite wedding traditions and exchanged vows during the most beautiful ceremony in the presence of their loved ones.

The reception kicked off with Kevin spinning Jeane -- in her glittery sneakers -- around on the dance floor during their much-anticipated first dance. Their guests watched in awe from their tables, adorned with blush linens, dusty rose runners, floral centerpieces in glass vases, loose greenery and warm candlelight.

At the head table, there were panels of white drapery in the backdrop, and twine wreaths with laser-cut wooden signs reading “Mr.” and “Mrs.” Each place setting showcased a berry-colored napkin, textured charger and miniature candle as a wedding surcie.

Their classic three-tiered wedding cake had white frosting with textured rose accents and floral garnishes. The display was marvelous, surrounded by eucalyptus and topped with two charming Pikachu characters in their wedding best. Behind them another topper read, “We Swiped Right!”

“Jeane and Kevin’s love story played out through their whole wedding,” said the PR rep, “from the Tinder-inspired cake topper to the bubble tea station.”

Guests sipped on bubbly and boba tea all night, while celebrating alongside their loved ones. At the end of the night, Jeane and Kevin ran hand-in-hand down the courtyard steps, while their friends and families cheered them on with streamers and showered them with love.

Congratulations, Jeane and Kevin!
