Erica Bullard + Chris Jordan | Apr 28, 2018
They swiped right (and it worked!). Erica and Chris met the modern way on Tinder and had their first date not long after when Chris joined Erica and a group of friends for dinner. Her friends had talked her into inviting Chris, and even though it was last minute and he had already eaten, Chris still insisted on paying for Erica’s dinner. The next weekend, the two went out on a proper date and that’s where their journey together began!
Eventually, Erica and Chris went to look at engagement rings together and Erica selected a few styles and told Chris that she would be happy with any of them. Later in the year, they were on a trip to Mexico with Chris’ family and he knew it would be the perfect place to propose. On their second night, Chris took Erica for a nighttime walk along the beach and proposed on the beautiful Mexico shore!
When it came time to plan their big day, Erica and Chris loved the idea of a modern desert garden theme. They selected shades of dusty, slate and steel blues to set the vibe for their day in everything from their flowers to their cake. Gold served as the accent color and candles and greenery added a soft, romantic touch. Gorgeous flowers with a large emphasis on greenery and desert-inspired flowers played a huge part in the wedding design. Blue thistle and succulents brought the garden desert theme to life and were heavily incorporated throughout the entire wedding at Whitehead Manor, a historic Victorian-era venue in the center of Charlotte.
The outdoor ceremony took place underneath the shade of the trees surrounded by walls of lush green bushes. A magnificent tree limb decorated with white flowers and a breezy white drape served as the backdrop while white delphiniums and candles lined the aisle. The entire ceremony looked like something out of a daydream and Erica and Chris became husband and wife surrounded by those they love most.
After saying, “I do,” the party continued outside in the venue’s courtyard. Both round and rectangle tables were dressed in light linens with dusty blue napkins, gold flatware and beautiful watercolor table numbers and menu cards. The lush centerpieces were full of white and blue flowers with gold hexagonal accent pieces adding a modern touch. Market lights were strung overhead to complete the garden feel. In lieu of the traditional tall wedding cake, Erica and Chris opted for three different cakes; one was a small round with amazing watercolor flowers while the other two showcased the dusty blue and gold watercolor theme.
Chris and Erica’s day was full of sweet moments but the highlight for them both was the first look that they shared right before their ceremony. Although they debated whether to do one, they were both so glad that they did. Erica shared, “First looks are so special, and I know they are not for everyone, but for us it was truly a magical moment and did not take away from my walk down the aisle one bit. Although we had both seen each other just a few minutes before, there was still something about walking down the aisle to him with all of our family and friends there that made it different!”
Their perfect day ended with a festive confetti exit and the newlyweds drove off into the night in a fabulous silver convertible. When asked her advice for the planning bride, Erica suggests, “As for the big day, it really does go by in a blink of an eye so savor every single moment. There are so many little things that come together to make an amazing day and you don't want to miss a single thing. As soon as we drove away that night, I looked at Chris and said, ‘Can we start this day over again?’ I hope that every couple looks back at their day with that much love and excitement.”
Congratulations, Erica and Chris!
