Eclectic, boho styled shoot with jewel tones and vibrant florals at Old St. Andrew’s in Jacksonville, Florida
This eclectic, bohemian wedding-styled shoot mixed vivid jewel tones, bright florals and vintage flair for a truly show-stopping display. Each piece reflected the history of the magnificent wedding venue - a stunning, 130-year-old Gothic Revival church and hidden gem in sunny Florida.
“We chose a wider color palette,” said the wedding photographer, “and the colors we settled on are not necessarily traditional, but they complement each other perfectly and gave our vendors the artistic freedom to bring this vision to life.”
For the bridal look, the model glowed in an ivory, silk fit-and-flare gown with a romantic plunging neckline. The bodice featured a sheer cape with lace overlay, and there was a lace-trimmed train and a row of delicate buttons down the back. She wore statement jewelry, including a vintage headpiece in her sleek bun updo.
“It was important to us to collaborate with a local business for the jewelry,” said the photographer.
Her groom donned a slate grey, three-piece suit with a jacquard print violet bow tie. He completed the look with a white pocket square, a pair of brown leather shoes and a wedding boutonniere made from a vibrant fuchsia rosebud. Together, they looked striking on the steps of the historic church venue.
“We wanted to make sure that we chose a real couple who would let their love and affection show through in the photos,” said the photographer, “and ultimately settled on a look that gave a nod to antiquity but stayed in tune with the concept of a variety of textures, colors, and layers.”
Inside the chapel, the wedding altar was brought to life by an abundance of greenery and vibrant floral arrangements. There were two cast urns full of greenery, dried reeds, and an array of fuchsia, violet and ivory blooms. The wooden arbor was adorned with white tulle drapery and greenery, with small ferns and gold geometric lanterns at the bases.
The floral design was emphasized in the bridal bouquet, with seeded eucalyptus, blue thistle, lavender and a blush pink King Protea nestled in the center. The couple embraced at the altar, with a cream tasseled shag rug beneath their feet, surrounded by wooden accents, gorgeous stained glass windows and historic elements.
“The venue itself brings so much character to the table,” said the photographer.
Following a cheerful greeting by friends and family outside the chapel, the party made their way to the dreamlike garden wedding reception. Outside, the setup was marvelous - the grounds were filled with greenery and the tablescapes featured bold colors and bohemian decor.
The guests’ reception table featured a low, light-washed wooden table with charming floor seating. Atop an ivory bohemian rug, there were mismatched, velvet plush cushions for seating in shades of teal and rose. Across the center of the table was an ivory macramé table runner, lush greenery and single bud arrangements in colorful glass bottles. Each place setting featured a layered textured woven charger, porcelain dinner plate and menu, paired with gold flatware and acrylic plum-colored goblets.
“The intimate cushioned dining space designed for guests was a charming finishing touch, as well,” said the photographer.
At the newlyweds’ whitewashed wooden sweetheart table, they sat in majestic mint and berry-colored upholstered chairs. There was a champagne tulle fabric runner, a statement floral centerpiece and slate taper candles. Surrounded by palm fronds and rays of Florida summer sunshine, the bride and groom were absolutely radiant.
For the sweetest detail of all, there was a grazing board that was absolutely drool-worthy. The rustic wooden platter was overflowing with colorful mixed berries, tasty figs, decadent cheese bites and magenta flower buds scattered throughout.
“We had an excellent time sampling the grazing board,” said the photographer, “which felt like a just reward after a full day of moving furniture, styling various spaces, and coordinating all the details that made this shoot come to life.”
Congratulations to this team of wedding vendors on a dreamlike styled shoot!
