A rose, orange and burgundy toned styled shoot blended with vintage and boho touches at Stable View in Aiken, South Carolina
As the leaves changeand fall and the air grows crisp, it’s customary to reflect on seasons past and embrace nature’s wonders. For a floral and event designer, makeup artist and a photographer, this annual feast for the heart and senses were inspiration for their styled shoot.
“The fall season sparks joy, nostalgia, creative feelings, warmth and love for so many people, and we really just wanted to take that and run with it,” the photographer said. “We wanted to keep it really simple and embrace the space and nature. We wanted to maintain a free-spirit vibe while playing with the fall colors and beautiful space.
”From the bride’s nail polish to her bouquet and the hanging florals, a mix of warm hues brought that fall feeling to life. Meanwhile, the décor and attire added the right amount of vintage and boho style.
Nature’s palette was more than happy to accommodate the vision, beginning with the couple’s invitation suite. Guests opened a lined outer envelope to find an invitation and reply card with a watercolor design reminiscent of an early fall sunset—a dramatic mix of blue and indigo with wisps of gold and fuchsia. Gold hand-lettering introduced the free-spirited vibe.
To let the fall colors really shine, the bride and groom’s looks were natural with subtle creative touches.
The bride wore a soft white lace strapless sheath gown with a sweetheart neck, high center slit and sweep train. Her long hair was styled in soft curls to complement her effortless makeup.
“I chose a soft, romantic look that is classic and timeless,” said the makeup artist. “I chose colors that complemented her hazel eyes and flowed with the colors used in the florals.
”The bride’s bouquet was one of several standout floral elements. It was a mix of zinnias, ranunculus and garden roses in shades of orange, blush pink and deep-red, with white aster and greenery. The flowing gold and burgundy fabric ribbons that tied it off added the perfect touch. A garden-fresh floral hair accessory completed her look.
The groom’s look offered a natural ease as well, with khaki pants and a white button-down playfully paired with brown suspenders and a mixed floral-pattern tie.
The team chose the base of a tree on property to further achieve their vision of naturally inspired simplicity. Flowers were strung from the tree to create a stunning yet delicate hanging backdrop.
For the head table, there was a wooden table for two with vintage white wicker patio chairs. Cream and fuchsia carnations and pink gerbera daisies, mixed with similar florals from thebride’s bouquet, were sprinkled across the table’s vintage white lace runner.
“The location served as a beautiful backdrop, and we only needed to accent it with décor and floral,” said the floral and event designer. “We wanted something light and whimsical in the hanging install to contrast with the heavier fall tones in the bouquet and the darker wooden table.
A mix of vintage pieces were used to set the head table. Distressed gold-rimmed vintage china entrée plates were matched with silver-rimmed bread plates and cut-glass stemware, bud vases and taper candle holders. Hand-lettered menu cards introduced each course of the meal, and pink-hued watercolor designs accented “Mr.” and “Mrs.” placecards at the placesetting.
Simplicity and natural elements also joined in a gorgeous wedding cake design. Fall blooms surrounded the rose gold stand the four-tier cake sat on.The bottom three tiers were a simple white, and the top tier was a blush pink for asubtle pop of color. Ribbons of garden roses and greenery rested gently around the base and top tiers.
As the day moved from feast to festivities, the bride added a pop of party-ready pieces. The bride donned a black moto jacket and retro sunglasses, adding a fun edge to her look. Talk about a free spirit!
It was a day full of color and creative touches that are easy to fall in love with!
