Esther + Carter | Sep 15, 2018
When there is a hurricane on the horizon, typically you stay indoors and cozy up on the couch to ride out the storm. Well, not for this couple!
Exactly one year ago, Carter and Esther got engaged and started planning their “destination” Charleston wedding. As former New Yorkers who moved to Charlotte for the “weather,” they decided on Charleston as the perfect destination for their September wedding.
Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans for Carter and Esther’s Charleston wedding. When Hurricane Florence set her sights on the Carolinas, the couple was forced to move their wedding date to November.
What Hurricane Florence didn’t know is that Carter and Esther weren’t about to let her ruin all of their fun wedding plans. The couple looked at the glass half full and decided to make the best of an absolute worst case scenario.
Carter and Esther dressed up and celebrated what should have been their wedding day. They celebrated locally in Charlotte with a photo shoot in the rain and a small party with friends.
It helped that the couple had the talented Critsey of Critsey Rowe Photography to capture them in an amazing background at the Ballantyne Hotel.
As the couple strolled along the hotel’s golf course and grounds, it was easy to capture the intimate moments, since no one else in their right mind was out and about in the hurricane rains and winds!
The future bride wore an off the shoulder simple gown, while the future groom was in a full tux. No rain photo shoot is complete without a large umbrella for the couple to share. Not to mention, the bottle of champagne they could shake up and spray everywhere because the rain washed it right up!
The couple laughed, danced and kissed in the rain for a perfect back up plan to their original wedding day. Here’s to the future Mr. and Mrs., and making the best of a bad situation!
