In Love with Highcountry Blues

Apr 28, 2019

Dusty shades of blue at an elegant and intimate, rustic chic styled shoot at Brown Mountain Beach Resort in Lenoir, North Carolina

Even though the color palette was blue, there were certainly no blue feelings at this elegant and intimate styled shoot. Set in the high country, it mixed a mountainous and waterfront backdrop with elegant and rustic chic décor for the most romantic looking day.

It all started with an elegant script font invitation suite. The emerald green invitation and blue text mixed perfectly.

Greens and blue continued to mix throughout wedding day between all the natural greenery used in the florals and all the dusty blue accents in florals, décor and the bridesmaids.

The bridesmaid dresses from Bella Bridesmaids Charleston added to the elegant and chic feel. Each dress was a flowy chiffon fabric in a different shade of dusty blue or grey. One flowed off the shoulders while another had long balloon sleeves, but each brought the whole look together.

The ladies and the two super cute flower girls embraced the bride and the groom before heading down to the intimate ceremony.

In her boho chic, long sleeve, open back gown, the bride grabbed her natural inspired bouquet and her classic black suit wearing groom and set out for the rocky, waterfront ceremony location.

A duo of strings began playing as the small group took their spots on the rocks for the intimate ceremony. And surrounded by nothing but nature and love, the couple was married beneath the morning sun.

After the ceremony and some very cute pictures, thanks to Kelsey Halm Photography, in a vintage 1947 rustic pickup truck, it was time for the reception.

Inside, in front of a rustic stone fireplace was a farm table set for the small group. Across the room, right in front of the crystal chandelier was another farm table set for just the bride and groom.

The head table was set with folding wooden bistro chair on top of a vintage inspired rug with shades of blue. The rug pulled out all the different shades of blue in the tablescape.

Between the candles, the flowers, the glassware and the napkins the shades of blue ranged from dark navy to super light grey-blue. The grey-blue color was in the linen napkins that were knotted and placed on top of the duo of white plates. One clear and one blue vintage-inspired glassware sat at each place setting.

On top of a grey linen runner that draped across the table and down to the floor laid rustic greenery from one end to the other. In the center was a short arrangement of white roses, blue snapdragon and an assortment of different types of greenery. Each one bringing a unique texture to the look. The navy-blue tapers in gold candlestick holders rounded out the look.

The sweetheart table featured a similar look. It was framed out by a wooden structure draped with white fabric and rustic greenery. Matching greenery laid across the table, draping down to the floor with the same grey linen runner as the head table.

Similar navy taper candles and gold candlestick holders decorated the table that had unique place settings. On top of a white scalloped-edged dinner plate sat a blue chinoiserie plate to add some color. A fringed knotted napkin and unique silver glass finished it off.

The love seat paired with the table and the velvety blue pillows could not have been more inviting for the couple.

Also inviting? The brunch food items on display at the buffet. From pancakes to yogurt parfaits, bacon to egg toast, we don’t care what time it is we want it all. The same can be said about the dessert display set up outside. While the strawberries really popped it was the blue desserts that kept the display on point.

Before joining the reception, the bride changed, and her second look was totally different but just as gorgeous. The new dress had an illusion long-sleeve bodice that flowed into a full tulle skirt.

The couple took a moment and at a secluded, beachfront location they exchanged private vows before going back inside. While they were outside, the space transformed into a cozy soft seating area with a cream love seat and two dark blue-grey velvet chairs.

It was all set up in front of a candle lit fireplace and was the perfect spot for a hot cup of coca and cheers to the best day ever.
