Leah + Greg | Apr 7, 2018
It was a match made in heaven when Greg and Leah found each other on Match.com. Greg indicated he was “interested” in Leah, and when she read his bio, she was immediately intrigued. She was struck by his faith, which he put above everything else; it was exactly what she was looking for, so she decided to send him a message. He soon responded and the two sent messages back and forth before they eventually exchanged phone numbers. About a month later, they went on their first date at P.F. Changs in Durham, North Carolina – Greg thought Leah was out of his league but she knew he was something special!
On the anniversary of their first date, Leah and Greg went back to the same place it all began. After enjoying a delicious meal, the two wondered over to the campus of Leah’s alma mater, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As they walked around, they reminisced on their favorite moments of the past year together. As they came upon the college’s iconic bell tower, Greg got down on one knee and asked Leah to marry him!
With a romantic start like that, it’s no wonder their wedding day was a dream come true. They chose historical Revolution Mills in Greensboro, as their venue after falling in love with the architecture from the original maple floors to the soaring ceilings. Leah’s love for the color pink set the tone of the wedding and paired perfectly with the other colors she selected – coral and gray.
Leah looked stunning in her strapless gown with a sweetheart neckline and lace bodice. The mix between an A-line and ballgown skirt was perfection with it’s lace and beading detailing. She paired the look with a Cathedral-length veil with delicate lace at the bottom. Her handsome groom donned a custom charcoal suit that was tailored to fit him perfectly. Paired with a gray vest, tie and pocket square his coral boutonniere provided the pop of color they wanted.
The beautiful windows of the venue set the backdrop for the ceremony and two beautiful candelabras, borrowed from the bride’s parent’s church, framed the couple at the altar. A decorative window frame, reminiscent of the venue’s architecture, featuring photo of the couple was set for guests to see upon arrival. The most anticipated moment of the day was Leah’s walk down the aisle since the two hadn’t each at all that day. “It was very exciting to me when the screens were opened and we got to see each other for he first time,” said Leah. “Greg’s face was priceless!” During the ceremony, the couple incorporated multiple prayers including one by the congregation as they took Communion.
After saying “I do,” the guests entered the reception space, which was complete with gold Chiavari chairs (a surprise and gift for the couple from Leah’s parents!). The flowers completed the vibe with gorgeous centerpieces filled with peonies, ranunculus and roses in shades of coral, pink and white which were paired with candle-lite lanterns and votives. Several signs featuring the couple’s favorite quotes about love were displayed around the space.
After enjoying an amazing dinner from Pepper Moon Catering (including a mashed potato bar with delicious toppings!), the couple hit the dance floor for their first dances. The father/daughter dance was especially sweet when after one-minute of dancing together, Leah and her dad invited all the other fathers and daughters in attendance to join them on the dance floor. The Nixons captured this, and all the sweet moments of the day, perfectly. After enjoying the evening surrounded by their loved ones, Leah and Greg headed out into the night under a tunnel of sparklers where they shared one more kiss before making their grand exit as husband and wife!
Congratulations, Leah and Greg!
