Intimate summer styled shoot with whimsical florals, elegant decor, a romantic color palette and lakeside views at Mision Lago Estate in Thonotosassa, Florida

At a private estate boasting enchanting Florida waterfront views, a manicured landscape and dreamy vineyard, all elements came together to create the most intimate and romantic styled shoot.

“Samantha and Scott did not get to have the wedding of their dreams due to Covid-19,” said the photographer. “So, when they became the models for this styled shoot, well, let’s just say we turned it into a mini wedding!”

The invitation suite was simple yet elegant, combining classic borders and calligraphy with romantic rose and steel blue tones. They even showcased a second suite featuring a modern acrylic sheet, blush accents and vellum paper.

Samantha looked absolutely radiant in a fit-to-flare ivory lace gown with a dramatic plunging neckline and romantic open back. She wore a low bun updo tied with a tiny black bow, leaving loose tendrils to frame her face beneath a classic cathedral veil. Her makeup was natural with a slightly smoky eye and she completed the look with a pair of satin ivory heels with a sheer lace vamp.

Scott put a twist on the classic black and white tuxedo, sporting a white jacket with black lapels. His boutonniere was a simple arrangement of blush and ivory spray roses mixed in with delicate baby’s breath. It beautifully complemented Samantha’s whimsical bridal bouquet of wildflowers and willow, blush ivory and rose peonies, ranunculus and roses. 

The same floral design was incorporated into the altar decor, which featured two posts wrapped with lush greenery and summery blooms. On the grounds of the old Spanish-style private ranch with the shimmering lake in the backdrop, it was a wedding scene out of a fairytale.

“In true wedding day fashion, it rained on the day of the shoot but that didn’t affect the smiles that were shared when we found the perfect spot to do a ‘first look’,” said the photographer. “It wasn’t a traditional wedding, but it was something special Samantha and Scott were able to share together!”

Luckily, the weather cleared up right before they took Samantha out to meet Scott, and everything fell into place from there.

For cocktail hour, there was plush velvet teal lounge seating with surrounding highboys in glistening gold tablecloths, topped with enchanting bud arrangements. To the side, a gold, multi-tiered structure served rows of champagne flutes filled with bubbly.

Their three different single-tiered and multi-tiered cakes were displayed on a gorgeous, sheer petal-like ivory linen out in the lawn. Together, they featured rose, stone and ivory tones, marble elements, floral garnishes, and a gold monogram.

After they cut the cake, the couple posed amongst acres of vineyards, orchid nurseries and palm trees scattered throughout the property, which offered a beachy charm. Each area added an elegant ambiance and provided a different, unique backdrop for photos.

As the golden hour turned to sunset, the table was set for the most romantic dinner party. At the entrance to the reception area, there was a Tiffany blue acrylic welcome sign framed with willow, blush garden roses and ivory spray roses.

The table was lined with wooden cross back Tuscan chairs and outfitted in layered champagne and sheer ivory petal-like linens. On top, an abundance of oversized floating glass candles mixed with bud arrangements and whimsical centerpieces to create a warm ambience. Each place setting was set with a gold-rimmed glass dinner plate, champagne linen napkin, sprig of willow and brushed gold flatware.

“The rest of the day was a dream,” said the photographer. “Beautiful flowers, luxury linens, lakeside and vineyard views...like I said - it might as well have been a mini wedding!”
