Rustic yet elegant styled shoot with boho floral design and lavender tones at The Seed Mill Barn in Monroe, North Carolina
Summer was in full swing for this styled shoot, reimagining a vision of rustic elegance at a low-country barn. The renovated horse barn was perfectly situated in a wooded, private setting along a boulder creek, where surrounding meadows accentuated the romantic tones and boho floral design.
“The idea of incorporating tones of blush, burgundy, and greenery was the magic behind the overall vibe of the shoot,” said Amber of Carolina Crafts on Tap.
Kicking off the shoot, the invitation suite combined minimalist and feminine elements, with striking gold calligraphy across ivory, deckled-edge cards. However, the stars of the show were the models, who are, in fact, a real-life couple!
“Both Jenna and Drew are so talented,” said Amber, “and their chemistry is just on fire and so natural.”
For the bridal look, the model wore a figure-sculpting lace gown with gorgeous champagne undertones. She wore a bold lip and minimal jewelry, and her hair was pulled to the side in a mermaid-like fishtail braid.
“Given a rustic venue, the touch of lace on this fit-and-flare gown was just right,” said Amber, “along with the romantic off-the-shoulder sleeves to give a more elegant look, yet a sexy fit with a low back.”
The groom wore a slim-fit, three-piece indigo blue suit paired with a dusty rose bow tie and versatile chestnut Oxford shoes. His boutonniere was simple yet elegant, showcasing a single dusty rosebud and sprigs of lavender.
“The florals for the shoot were just stunning, wild, romantic, vibrant, and just right!” said Amber. “The floral tones of pink, burgundy, lilac, and greenery provided a gentle yet beautiful pop of color.”
Wildly romantic and boho-inspired blooms included roses, wildflowers, snapdragons and greenery. The bridal bouquet was a breathtaking, hand-tossed piece of art that beautifully complemented the model’s gown with soft lavender tones and hints of ivory and merlot. There were touches of the floral design at every corner of the shoot, beginning with the ceremony site.
“The ceremony location was dreamy yet so unreal!” said Amber. “We truly focused on designing a gorgeous outdoor, romantic setting with gold candle lighting.”
A large arrangement waterfalled down the right-hand side, and another arrangement blossomed from the lower-left of the handmade wooden pergola-style arbor. More touches of wildflowers and greenery were installed throughout the cocktail reception, including at the foot of the modern, chevron bar provided by Carolina Crafts on Tap.
“We decorated the venue at the ceremony site with some gorgeous and lush wildflowers to give a romantic and wildly vibe,” said Amber.
At the bar, an abundance of taper candles added warmth to the space, with additional market lighting strung throughout the surrounding trees. The dinner area included an array of delicious Southern-inspired hors d'oeuvres, and an intimate sweetheart table with a gorgeous wildflower arrangement, wooden Chiavari chairs and touches of gold accents.
Both place settings featured a textured, gold-rimmed acrylic charger layered with ivory and slate ceramic plates, a deckled-edge name card and satin, dusty rose napkin. Gold flatware complemented the apricot-colored goblets, and funky gold candle holders tied together the tablescape.
“Our most favorite part of the shoot had to be the delicious and refreshing touches of the Carolina Crafts on Tapsignature drink,” said Amber, “The Secret Garden.”
The team’s creative bartenders steeped rosemary in vodka and mixed it with homemade lavender simple syrup, a couple lemon squeezes and refreshing soda water, garnished with a lemon, rosemary sprig and lavender sprig. Their lavender-infused inspiration even carried into the dessert!
“For dessert, a three-tiered cake made an appearance with tones of lavender and light grey,” said Amber.
Outside the barn, a vintage mobile bar cart served sips in mason jars, with tags tied with twine reading, “Thank you for Celebrating with us.” The couple clinked glasses to the fairytale celebration, as the night sky slowly came into the backdrop.
