Styled elopement with a roller disco-themed setting, vintage attire and retro vibes at a vacant space in Lenoir, North Carolina
The year of 2020 has brought a new wave of elopements, inspiring creative concepts such as this roller disco-themed shoot with vintage-chic attire, a vibrant color palette and playful retro decor.
“We designed this roller disco elopement inspiration for the bride and groom that want to skip the traditions and go straight for the party (oh, and they're obsessed with retro vibes),” said the event planner.
Starting with the invitation suite, each detail embodied individuality and funk. The design incorporated stripes, a punchy color palette of rust, turquoise and apricot, and bold lettering that read, “let the good times roll.”
The shoot featured a series of glamorous outfit changes by Meagan Kelly Designs, beginning with a custom ivory lace, long-sleeved romper for the bride. She added a pair of handmade, feathery earrings and wore curls with glowy, hot pink makeup.
“We dressed our bride in a series of retro-inspired looks that are equal parts fun and chic,” said the event planner, “and accessorized with a series of handcrafted wearable floral designs.”
Her groom was dressed in head-to-toe vintage, including a suede sherpa vest, paisley-print button down and gold-framed round shades. Of course, both traded in their kicks for a pair of retro roller skates.
Inside the venue, the vacant space’s exposed brick, hardwood floors and weathered walls provided the ideal blank canvas for the theme. Natural light reflected off of oversized disco balls, and floral installations popped with dried grasses and floral fans dyed in violet and fuchsia tones.
“We dressed up a super cool vacant building with all sorts of vintage furniture, an abstract silver balloon installation, and floral arrangements built around giant mirrored disco balls,” said the event planner.
The couple settled in at their sweetheart table, featuring a reclaimed wooden farm table, gold velvet tufted chairs, vintage china, amber goblets, gold flatware, gold napkins and a flowy coral table runner. There was cozy candlelight and an arrangement of amber and burnt orange dried florals. The stair-climbing chrome and matte silver balloon installation with metallic fringe shined in the backdrop.
For their second looks, the bride shifted into a blush, sequined jumpsuit with a faux fur coat, handmade floral headwrap and dramatic shades. Her groom looked dapper in a bold patterned shirt with a navy velvet jacket, which complemented the moody, vintage lounge area.
They posed together on a gold velvet sofa, with mid-century modern director's chairs, matte black drum end tables, a seagrass rug and a marble-topped mid-mod coffee table with a floating floral centerpiece completing the room.
The bride’s next outfit really mirrored the sparkling disco balls, with a high-neck silver sequined mini dress worn with transparent platform heels and hydrangea-inspired earrings. The groom’s sleek leather moto jacket made him look effortlessly cool, and really tied the couple’s ensemble together. They nestled into mod dining chairs next to the gold bar cart and raised their glasses.
“We topped it off with the ultimate party snacks: pizza, giant donuts, hard cider and blue velvet disco ball cake pops,” said the event planner.
The couple closed the evening in front of the grand staircase in their final looks: a champagne-colored, beaded 20s-inspired mini dress, paired with dark wash denim for her partner. They kissed in front of the railing covered in silvery balloons and dripping with metallic streamers, while whimsical confetti filled the air.
“To the brides out there who want to break all the rules and have the most fun wedding day ever,” said the event planner, “here's your permission to get super creative (and we're totally here for it)!”
